Re: How good is Harry, really?
QPR boss Redknapp recently said of the Chelsea job: "You'd have to be a real dope to mess it up with [the likes of] Eden Hazard, Juan Mata, Frank Lampard."
But Villas-Boas, who was sacked by Chelsea after nine months in charge, said: "You have to be able to access a club like that to experience it." (Source: BBC)
Yeah, he did great job at spurs too, now QPR looks actually like a competitive first league team.

He gets a job done. It's hard to argue against his record of "saving" clubs and/or making the most out of what's at a club.Potential wrote:I am starting to think he is one of the best in the PL.
In my view, Harry Redknapp is absolutely the best manager in the Premier League... at what he does. I don't really want to call him a small club manager, because of the negative connotations. However, he seems to excel in "underdog" situations, be that a relegation scrap (Southampton/QPR/early Tottenham) or a dark horse contender (Late Tottenham/West Ham).
Maybe that is the best description of Harry Redknapp: the Perennial Underdog.
Tbh, I had missed him since he was sacked by Tottenham. I was never a fan of his while he was there. However, since leaving, I've come to realize what he brings to the league. He lends a fun, unpredictable character to the league. His is a presence the league needs, if only for his entertainment value.
The image of Redknapp as an underDOG is somewhat fitting considering some of the ever-present jibes directed at him.

He's a great short term manager but he's no long term manager...

He won the FA Cup with Portsmouth, saved them from relegation. He saved Spurs from a relegation battle and turned them into a top 4 team. I think QPR will stay up.
