Never before has there been this much criticism of this award. This awarding Messi in his declining years with no real accomplishments, other than the lowly rated copa america is a joke. I believe awarding this to Messi and the worldwide criticism is going to lead to a revamping of these awards. Please give some criteria to who is actually deserves to be a candidate let alone the winner.

Jorginho wasn't even top 20 player last year. this award is all about who has won more with his NT and club now. which is stupid.

i'm actually more disturbed by the creation of a best striker award....why the hell is it necessary? there is already a european golden shoe, which is super clear on goals plus coefficients; no grey areas; this is just another award created with grey areas if its not in conjunction with the golden shoe

if you must create it , as redundant as it is, why not a best midfielder, best defender best goalie ? fifa just wastes their time with these white elephant charades.....dont care too much for the puskas award either, but it makes sense when compared to a best striker award, when u already got the golden shoe lol

Eh. I’m not too bothered about messi winning it. I guess it could go either way. What messi displayed in copa gave him the edge.

I do wish defenders and gk’s and less flashy players got more recognition. That’s why I was for Jorginho and even mendy. As McLewis and BC said, it would be nice to have a balance

I can only speak for myself, but some variety would be nice. If Messi and Ronaldo are going to continue to share the award between them, then I don't mind reading about it here and ignoring everything else about the award ceremony. It's not interesting, unless you're a hardcore fan of either of them.
