I think in the Bundesliga once someone offered one team a waggon-load of sausages if they'd beat a particular team (and it was neither Hoeneß nor Tönnies, IIRC XD)..

How did you get to paying the ref

They payed the players because they didnt have anything to play for most likely, last game of the season and many positions already decided. So give the players something to play for.

Not saying they did, but the overall setting suggest that they might have. If they payed the whole team, and it was the deciding match, why is it so strange to believe the ref was payed if he gave a controversial penalty call?

I mean we will probably never know, but the whole things stinks! And if Barca payed other team to beat RM, and on top of that Barca get a strange penalty call, I would doubt them the same (i mean about maybe paying the ref as well).

First you guys weren't around so who cares! The 70s were pretty corrupt anyways so it's pretty much in the past so let's keep it there. Another note just because the other team got payed to try barca should have still beat them so it's kind of irrelevent.

Exactly, some of Cordoba players could have actually themselves bribed ref so they would get payed, which then would make Madrid indirectly responsible. Well, we will never know, but is sure suggest that.

Agree with Dani, not the first time it will happen and not the last. Nothing wrong about it either, since it doesn't create any conflicts of interests.

And we all know that the Spanish referee's are sh%t, so it doesnt mean that just because the players were paid TO WIN that the ref was payed as well. Michael Laudrup was talking about this before and said that this happends all the time in Spain..

Its just a way to make a team that is not playing for anything, and with that I mean that they are in safe from relegation and are not playing for a EL/CL spot, to played with more "heart"..
