Even if you don't support them, you have to respect this. In this day and age, it is very rare to see a top-tier club's entire starting 11 comprised of players from the youth ranks. To see it at one of the best clubs, plying their trade at the highest level of football, is even more impressive.

Tbf they had to buy Fabregas, Pique and Alba back for something close to 50m combined but still it's a fantastic achievement.

i guess it shows the use of having a youth academy... but that's just me...

maybe it has something to do with political things that are happening in Spain and Catalunya...

We dont have to spend 30m and 40m on simple role players like other teams, we have ready made players to replace other players as they age.

And let's see, the bench had thiago who came on and we still had Tello and jonathan so we could even have afforded to make all 3 subs and still keep it La Masia had Montoya started.

Alba and Fabregas weren't really brought through. Fabregas cost around 30m and Alba around 15m or so.

The the only player in that lineup that was brought through recently is Montoya. And in a big game Alves would probably start at RB. I don't think any of the current youth players that Barca have brought through in the past year or so are good enough to start in a big game.

And I don't think there's anything wrong with buying players for 30-40m. The transfer market is there for a reason.

What can we do if players choose to leave? They didnt start their pro career with us, however they are the players they are because of the hard work they put in with us. But more importantly, does that take away anything from what I said?

I didnt say there is anything wrong with spending 30 or 40m on just role players..I said we dont have to.

The greatest thing is that they're also winning and not just playing because they're Barca products.

Well I don't think there's anything wrong with using your more experienced players in higher profile matches. Although we've already used Cuenca and Tello in some clasicos. Plus nearly the entire starting XI is just up in pecking order. Soon enough guys like Montoya, thiago, etc. will become starters after others have moved on

Does anyone have stats of how much money the entire "youth academy" has cost Barca over the past 10 years, and how does that compare to how much money any big spenders have spent in the same period?
