STATEMENT ON ROBERTO DI MATTEO

Chelsea Football Club has parted company this morning with Manager Roberto Di Matteo.

The team's recent performances and results have not been good enough and the owner and the Board felt that a change was necessary now to keep the club moving in the right direction as we head into a vitally important part of the season.

The club faces a difficult task ahead in qualifying for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League as well as maintaining a strong challenge for the top of the Premier League while competing in three other cup competitions. Our aim is to remain as competitive as possible and challenge strongly on all fronts.

The owner and the Board would like to thank Roberto for all he has done for the club since taking over in March. Roberto helped guide us to an historic Champions League victory and a seventh FA Cup. We will never forget the huge contribution he has made to this club's history and he will always be welcome at Stamford Bridge.

The club will be making an announcement shortly regarding a new first team manager.

I don't know what the club wants to do..there might be more than just this defeat and run of form

there has to be more to it then we know, remeber that massive run of draws the club let Scolari go though, and the club held onto AVB even while we were out of the top four, then again they sacked Carlo after we came second by 3 points

And what difference will this make? The new manager would still have the same squad ffs. And even then he'd need time to get in touch with the team

thats true, although tbh Rafa is the only coach to ever get good football out of Torres in the PL, and if theres any man on the face of the earth with the potential to bring back 50% of the old Torres, its Rafa Benitez

The David Luiz and Torres transfer was the worst in history by a mile. Together the 2 have caused 3 manager to be sacked

as i think about this more i realise that the game was played at night in Turin, which means the players and staff would've spent the night in Italy before flying back to London the next day. But Robbie got sacked ~12hrs after the Juve game finished which means there a decent chance RDM wasnt given the respect of being sacked in person

This is the height of impatience! Wow! Wow wow wow wow wow! Did they expect him to win the league with a team in transition? Did they expect everything to be smooth? Did they expect him to score a million goals with NO STRIKER? Did they expect him to have a brilliant defence when the defenders keep making individual errors? I'm looking at you Luiz! Wow! Oh my!

I'm disgusted to say the least. I couldn't say a word for over an hour when I saw the news, I'm just now able to talk about it. Not even going to bother going to read anything in the General section as it'll just rile me up.

I have the up most respect for RDM and feel sorry for him. Di Matteo will find another job, and i truely belive he will be a success in the future. He won't have shortge of job offers, ffs he is a CL winner.

I do think the right decision was made, as much i wanted him to be our long manager but sadly he isn't the answer. Him being a club legend and winning us the Championship league last season doesn't change that. The players we have doesn't suit him, his specialty is counter attacking football and that is not what we need.

He is a good manager, but just not right for Chelsea atm.

^Errr......no his specialty is NOT counter attacking football. Did you watch him at West Brom at all?
