Well I disagree. Tactical failures, yes. But we certainly haven't been playing counter attacking football for 'majority' of the season imo.Blue wrote:Blue Barrett wrote:And your opinion is that we've been playing counter attacking football all season?Blue wrote:Blue Barrett wrote:^Errr......no his specialty is NOT counter attacking football. Unbelievable. Wins the FA Cup, Champions League, initiates one of our best starts to a season ever, and he's out at the first little slump.
Roman Abramovich, you are a disgrace.

Mate take the Shakhtar away game for example. Before that game we were cruising and enjoyed a lot of success with pressing high up the pitch and winning possession.
What does he do against Shakhtar? he reverts back to the defensive winger thingy, of course after conceding early and Lampard going down with an injury he goes back to attacking.
This example illustrates that he is much more comfortable with a defensive approach, and first instinct is that. If this was AVB or any attacking manager, they would have stayed with what was working.
As i said before i admire Di Matteo and really wanted him for the long term, but the right decision was made.

Re: Robbie Sacked
So I guess this means we can add yet another 2 managers to our ever-growing list: a stopgap until the summer, until his beloved Pepto Bismol can be parachuted in . Were becoming a sad joke.
I can honestly say I'm shocked. Even more than I was when AVB was canned. This is just THE most senseless decision the Ruskie has ever made, apart from caning Mourinho of course.

My God . The fact that they're even considering bringing in Rafa tells you they couldn't care less about the fans.

Tbh, I think that's just bollocks from the media as he's the only other unemployed manager of note apart from Pep.ShedEnd1905 wrote:My God . The fact that they're even considering bringing in Rafa tells you they couldn't care less about the fans.

Re: Robbie Sacked
This is ridiculous to say the least! He got a team in transition and he did wonderfully so far, yes there might be bad times but he had everything to be positive about. God damn Roman... this is one the one thing i hate about him!

Re: Robbie Sacked
The reason Chelsea is in this situation isn't hard to discern. It was folly to go into a season with Torres and Daniel Sturridge masquerading as the Blues' entire strike force. That was not Di Matteo's decision; somebody further up the food chain needs to take ownership of that.
Thinking that four central midfielders -- one of them somewhat limited (John Obi Mikel), one of them a recycled wide player (Ramires), one of them 34 (Frank Lampard) and one of them just turned 21 with little experience (Oriol Romeu) -- could be enough to see you through the campaign was equally silly. And equally not down to Di Matteo.

Re: Robbie Sacked
And where did all this start? The game against United . Had a bad feeling about that game & it's fallout and what it could do to our season straightaway.
The reality is, Roman never wanted Robbie in the first place. He was appointed because he thought he'd be a good temporary until Pep left Barca in the summer, at which point he could bring him in. Then, even after Robbie wins the CL and FA Cup in 4 months, he STILL spent 4 weeks (which was an indication in itself about how he really felt about him) licking Pep's arse in an attempt to get him to join. When that failed, he just gave it to Robbie knowing that he'd be cheap, it'd appease the fans, and he could be sacked effortlessly at the first sign of difficulty, which has now come to fruition.
In the end, I'm deeply gutted for Robbie himself, and am left worried once again whether this club will ever see any semblance of stability. For Robbie, he'll bounce back. There will undoubtedly be clubs across Europe putting him on their radar; in the end, he had far too much dignity, loyalty, and class for Roman anyway. As for CFC though, I don't even know what to think. Roman will most likely get his wish and land Pep sooner or later, but can we even see him being given the probable large amount of time it would take to integrate and implement any semblance of what he had at Barca at Chelsea, which was mostly down to the once-in-a-lifetime group of players he had there anyway? If Abramovich didn't even give more than a 3-week bad slump to a man who had just 6 months prior won the FA Cup and European Cup, why should any of us think he'll give Guardiola the time it would take to bring in the players, implement the passing possession-based philosophy, examine, perfect and make use of the youth system, and then maybe eventually win something?
It's all just madness, and there's certain to be confusing and deeply tumultuous times ahead. Ironically enough, this is the exact way things felt when AVB was sacked and there was such uncertainty at the most fundamental of levels surrounding the club and where it went from there, until Robbie himself settled everything and everyone down, got the belief and spirit back in the club from top to bottom, and took us to the greatest season ever. Now, after that, plus making our greatest start to a season ever, he's gone after a few draws and 2 losses. Unbelievable, embarrassing, disgraceful.

Re: Robbie Sacked
The League Managers Association (LMA) has issued the following statement on behalf of Roberto Di Matteo following his departure from Chelsea Football Club.
Roberto Di Matteo said:
"It was an honour for me to be appointed manager of a club that I loved playing for and one that is so close to my heart. I am extremely proud of the successes and trophies that we were able to bring to the club in recent months.
“Lifting Chelsea's first Champions League trophy, in Munich, was the best achievement in club history and without doubt the highlight of my career to date, both as a player and manager. It is a memory I will treasure for the rest of my life.
“I have a deep and unreserved passion for Chelsea Football Club and I would like to sincerely thank all of the staff, my players and of course the Chelsea fans, for their tremendous and unconditioned support in the intense time I have been the manager at the Bridge. I wish all of them every success for the rest of the season and beyond.”
