The agent of Lazio’s Antonio Candreva has revealed why Juventus failed to sign him outright in the summer of 2010.

The Old Lady had the option to keep him after taking him on loan in January of that year, but he returned to parent club Udinese who then instantly sent him to Parma on a temporary basis.

“Juventus? He wasn’t in the right place at the right time,” agent Federico Pastorello told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s no coincidence that a lot of things changed at Juventus at the end of that season, both at squad and administrative level.

“He didn’t do badly in Turin, but Udinese’s asking price and a series of other factors meant that the player could not be kept by Juve.

“At the time, Udinese wanted €8m for a 50 per cent share in him and that was a lot of money.”

The midfielder, who will play for Italy tonight against France, later spent the 2011-12 season on loan at Cesena.

He moved to his current club in January 2012.
