That line up will not win Madrid anything. It is full of inconsistent players; Ronaldo wont be able to shoulder the team on his own.

The odds are Madrid wont lose if Kaka starts; but i think Mourinho has destroyed the confidence that Kaka tried to build; Kaka was riding a surge of performance based on actual results with his club and NT where he scored many goals and created even more.

I feel for him, i can relate to his confusion and read his personal conflict. It's going to take more than Kaka's inclusion to save Real Madrid right now; thanks to Mourinho and his lack of foresight.

But is there any other hope? I am afraid Kaka's the only option and Madrid has to exercise this option and nourish it until it rises again and generate the returns that Madrid gambled on failures including but not limited to Modric, Di Maria, Essien and to a lesser degree, Ozil.

I know what needs to be done, but i cant give you any guarantees at this stage mainly because of the damage that managerial ignorance has generated. The causes behind the poor returns have to be stopped, consequences absorbed, then we can talk about insurance.

this is the beauty of football, players arent bought for only one season you know? he will get his decent share of games this season. Alonso is 30 + so wont be around forever so then its upto modric to play that role

As for Modric, he is a very good player. However, as I felt when they signed him...he doesnt fit.

In the games vs other strong teams, you cant play him and Alonso with Ozil. I have no idea what Mourinho was thinking starting them vs a team like Dortmund....awful tactics.

Basically, he is only going to be effective without Alonso, or with him vs lesser teams....or as a sort of more withdrawn 10...I am where I was before they signed him...what was the point really?

His a poor mans iniesta basicly. He fits the system perfectly but we needed someone with more defensive qualites against Dortmund.

Alonso is more of a deep playmaker.

Modric is an inferior player to 10-11 Sahin.

modric is a different type of player. sahin is more of a deep lying playmaker like xabi and when ever they played together they would be occupying the same space which is not good.

modric has more mobility and likes to push more forward

Sahin is more of a Xavi if you ask me. He is more complete than Xabi, he can dribble, he is faster, can go forward.

Players going off form is your biggest problem. Don't think you guys need or needed any more players.

Khedira--Xabi partnership is perfect against minnows but fails and oftenly gets overrun by opposition midfield which makes our forwards useless and that forces them to oftenly backtrack, bring the ball forward and create for themselves. Thats the reason we needed Modric as hes perfect.

But keeping possesion better isnt much use if you cant actually stop counters/win the ball back in midfield. Alonso nor Modric are very good at that.

Modric, in fact no one player can be inserted into your lineup and increase possession so much so that you dont need a defensive presence in there. Alonso played lone DM for Spain vs someone I forget and he looked horrible. Playing him and Modric puts him in that same sort of situation again.

A physical presence/outstanding tackler isn't needed to win the ball back.

Good pressing should be enough.

Besides, I don't think Alonso is all that bad at tackling.

And also we can always switch formation. Mourinho did play 4-3-3 at times last season.

modric enables us to play a 4-3-3 though. it adds a versatility to our team i think we need.

But you dont play a possession game, therefore you cannot press for much more than 30% of the game because you lose it again too quickly and have to then press again. Your asking for a style you dont play.

Also, good pressing isnt enough...again, look at Spain when they played just Alonso. And if it isnt needed, why dont we play Xavi, Iniesta and Cesc all at the same time instead of Busquets or even Song?

Except we usually dominate most sides in terms of possession.

Barca can't really play Cesc, Xavi and Iniesta since neither of them play in the DM area. Alonso's more physical and better at tackling than them as well.

I guess it would be Modric, Alonso and Khedira/Essien in terms of Mourinho's 4-3-3. I'm hoping we get a pure DM once Alonso gets sold/benched and play Ozil and Modric as the 2 CM's.

Mourinho seems to be using Modric in a 4-2-3-1 currently. Modric wasn't only bought for a 4-3-3.
