We really need to find some consistency. October was a real mixed bag with 2 Wins, 2 Draws and 2 Losses.

NOOOOO everytime we've had a thread about upcoming fixtures, it's gone horribly wrong. Let's just take one game at a time and see how it goes. We shouldn't even think about the Anzhi or Chelsea game. Just focus on Newcastle and that's it.

A tad too much superstition for my taste.
Newcastle H - Losing is not an option.
Chelsea A - Losing is an option, they are better than last season, I would consider draw a decent result.
Wigan H - A must win.
Swansea A
Tottenham A - Three or four points would be OK from these last two matches. If we want to fight for a top-4 finish, it would almost have to be 6 points.

Re: November Fixtures
Okay, the superstitions are cute up to a point, but I have to agree with Art. No matter what we do here, it's not affecting the play on the pitch.
That said, I'm going to agree with Art on his match assessment as well.
Newcastle H - This match is a must not lose. We need to control the match and right the defense. A 1-1 draw or even a 0-0 draw (god-forbid... for the sake of enjoyment, a clean sheet would actually be a great boon) would be an acceptable result. However, if we're going to challenge for the top-four, we need 3 points.
Chelsea A - Even if we want to challenge for top-four, we don't have to win this match. Chelsea are legitimate title contenders. If they get a scoring CF, or Torres finds true goal-scoring form, they will be scary. A draw is certainly a victory from this one, and I will be over-the-moon with a victory. I do think we're capable of winning this match if our style and performances finally kick in. We've seen our quality that combination can produce (stretches of the Man City and Man U matches). Conversely, we've also imploded at times. Whichever team feels like showing up will determine what we take from this match in terms of points or bruises.
Wigan H - Very much a fixture that we need to take 3 points from. Wigan has not been in their infamous relegation avoidance form yet this year (West Ham match not withstanding). We need to take all three at Anfield.
Swansea A - Swansea have been hot and cold this season. Against us, they were hot (and by all accounts we were very, very cold). On their day, they'll make any team work for three points. When it's not their day, they'll capitulate to relegation fodder. We have a bit of extra motivation from our recent League Cup howler. We need three point for the spirit as much as the table. Going to the Liberty and taking all three points would be all the sweeter.
Tottenham A - It will be a tough ask to take all three points from The Lane. Personally, a draw (again, scoring would be nice) would not be the end of the world. Tottenham will likely be serious top-four contenders. They have had a good run of games over the last few fixtures, but have also crashed out of the League Cup just like us (perhaps even more embarrassingly). To be seriously considered as challengers for Europe, we need to take something from this match.
To truly be top-four contenders we should be aspiring to take 12 out of the next 15… maybe 10. Realistically, I’m expecting 7 or 8. That’s two wins and one or two draws… You pick which goes where.

Re: November Fixtures
We'll beat Newcastle and Chelsea in the league. Chelsea whilst invested heavily and are playing like favourites for the PL, I don't know. I just cannot see us losing to them. They havn't beaten us in the league in a while, and I'm certain we have one of the better records against them at the Bridge (especially in recent years). Maybe it's me being optimistic, but I'm certain we can beat them if we turn up to the game. Players must be rested against Anzhi, though. Can't see Newcastle beating us at Anfield.
Wigan always somehow to manage to salvage a point against us, so I'm really hoping we can sneak a goal (or a bundle) in there somehow and come out with 3 points. Always frustrating watching Martinez' team.
We'll lose to Spurs and the Swans but I do feel if we exploit the space behind the Spurs defence and are actually clinical on the day we can get something out of it.

Re: November Fixtures
My heart says we'll win all 5 PL fixtures. My head says we'd be lucky with 7.
Tbh if presented with 9/15 points, I'd take it and run.

Re: November Fixtures
Probably not the best thread for this but... our last 8 games:
Norwich City 2-5 Liverpool 3
Liverpool 0-0 Stoke City 1
Liverpool 1-0 Reading 3
Everton 2-2 Liverpool 1
_
Liverpool 1-1 Newcastle United 1
Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool 1
Liverpool 3-0 Wigan Athletic 3
Swansea City 0-0 Liverpool 1
That's 14 points out of a possible 24. That's not too bad actually.

I don't care what you tell me but 5 draws in 8 games is not good.

It isn't. But...
>We're getting harder to beat.
>We're not playing like how we used to under Roy. We ARE attacking and playing for the 3 points.
>Players are still trying to adapt to the new style.
>We do lack depth.
>We have attackers coming in January. Borini also comes back.
>The defence is started to look very solid.

Not sure if this is the right thread to discuss it, but Rodgers has hired a psychologist to help kill the weak-mentality members of the squad.

Pretty sure you'd need someone of a different profession to get rid of Downing and the like in that way...

Re: November Fixtures
we need to hire professional assassins to motivate the likes of Cole and Downing. I'm sure underachievers will play like their lives are on the line when their lives are actually on the line
