Re: The Off. Madrid want Bale thread
So, in other words, this is just Madrid flexing their financial muscles for no reasonZealous wrote:We don't need him but a club always needs great players. That's what Bale is.
You trying to tell me there aren't any positions Madrid could use that 45 mil to strengthen instead of blowing the entire load on a player they don't even need?

Re: The Off. Madrid want Bale thread
Although we've signed Modric, we still aren't really controlling games. The problem wasn't midfield or attack, the problem is Mourinho. He doesn't know how to control games. He doesn't know how to play possession effectively.

Re: The Off. Madrid want Bale thread
I think we can all agree Isco is a more cost efficient and more suitable target.
For some reason Zealous and Dani are trying to say it wouldn't be that bad to buy Bale.
Maybe so.
But who cares when there are better cheaper, younger, more talented options.
Saying he's not a suitable target isn't taking a shot at him.

Isn't Isco's buy out clause around 40m?

Zealous is right that signing great players is always a good thing, but there has to be point at which you say no, and you pass your turn. this is one of them. He is a mourinho guy that bale, so hopefully mou takes him with him to city or something.

I wouldn't mind Prince as a squad player tbh.

Just get a manager, a RB and a (long term) replacement for Alonso and you are fine

Billy expecting Madrid to do the sensible thing
In theory that's all they need but they will probably revamp the entire attack too

That's the sensible option for right now imo. However if a new manager arrives the whole system might change. Plus players might get offers from other clubs, they might leave and we might need to get replacement etc etc.

How badly do Madrid need Bale, exactly?
We have better players in any positions he can play, so he is very needed.
I'm confused.
I think it's meant as sarcasm, referring to Modric and most of our other transfers over the years.

Another not needed player that Madrid just might splash cash on. North London players just seem to be flops in Spain.

Re: The Off. Madrid want Bale thread
I wouldn't leave Spurs if I was Bale.
I think they'll challenge for the title next year if they make CL this year.
Levy will amazingly spend the CL money, n they are only 2-3 players short of title challenge anyways.

I don't see the reason to spend such an extraordinary amount on Bale even more so than what we spent for Modric who doesn't even start.

Re: The Off. Madrid want Bale thread
I think what he does will determine what type of character he has. It is easy jump to the bigger and "better" ship, but it takes something special to want to actually build something.
I think so many players miss out on becoming special or even legends, because they make the mistake of listening to their agent who are just stroking their ego's so they can get another payday.
That was my only issue with RVP leaving Arsenal for United. While we can say what we want about Arsenal, RVP was finally healthy, and they were starting to build something with him at the focal point. He set them back by leaving for the "easy" glory.

City need a player like him so badly. They would crazy not to break bank for him. I don't want him at the Bernabeu but I do hope he leaves Spurs.

Re: The Off. Madrid want Bale thread
I hope he stays but I think if he goes then we can replace him with the money he'll get us.
But I really hope he stays, he is that x factor Tottenham need and if Spurs make CL this year and make a couple good signings, I can see us staying in the CL spot for years to come.

More chance of them challenging than Chelsea imo.
Your squad needs 2 midfielders and a top striker with Lampard and Torres going.
not to mentiont terry-ivanovic n cole will all be even a year older.
Spurs team is very young, and will have stability under AVB, so chemistry will only get better.
a winger and a clinical striker, and a right back and they are laughing

Re: The Off. Madrid want Bale thread
Spurs have no chance of challenging for the title....
1. Levy won't spend the money required, he only spends a lot of money when they make significant sales.
2. City and Chelsea will have new managers and likely to spend shit loads and i doubt Yanited will stand still.
3. They need a lot more than a Winger, striker and a right back to challenge.
Bale can only go so far with Spurs IMO and Madrid want him and want him for a starter then he would be stupid to turn them down.
You know what this means though?
Let the Madrid garage sale begin
