Bonucci hits back at Cassano

Juventus stopper Leonardo Bonucci seems to have hit back at Antonio Cassano’s claims that the Old Lady only sign players willing to tow the line.

Speaking on Italian television last night, the new Inter player revealed that he has rejected the opportunity to join the Old Lady during his career.

“I refused three times to join them,” he stated. “They just want soldiers there, people who only go straight on their tracks.

“Sometimes I have to go to the right, to the left, where I feel like.”

Bonucci, a teammate of Cassano at Euro 2012, this afternoon responded to that comment using his Twitter account.

“Professionals more than soldiers…” was his brief message.

Fair point by Cassano, basically saying we want people to fall in line and do the hard grafting, and he knows he isn't that type of person. Well played Bon bon though

I love the part that went something like "im a player who does one thing one day, and another the next". How right you are my friend, you should be a scout.

I agree to with your first point- that if he had that mentality he would be one of the best. But I think he has still done quite well, and his mentality would have been better suited with teams like Sampdoria, which allow him to be the man. It's when he goes to teams like Roma, Real Madrid, Milan (just the latter end) etc. where it hurts him.

I mean, Totti arguably has a similar mentality but since he IS Roma, no one really minds. Giving Cassano the same treatment would see him flourish but it's too late
