Re: -The Official Club of Europa League>Champions League Gathering-
Its a disgraceful win as there is no pride in winning from that piece of debauchery. Dnipro were the better team pre-send-off as its no coincidence that the shock and disadvantage of the red card did Spurs a massive favour. Even then it took serious heroics from Lloris to save Spurs from Konoplyanka's shot and free-kick to keep Spurs in.
Rubbish team.
They'll face a first place Benfica now as I hope to god that they will be massacred. Deserve it.

That's a stonewall red-card in the rules of the game, don't know why people are acting outraged, well I do, anything to hate on the GOAT league. Personal bias aside, that's a red.

Re: -The Official Club of Europa League>Champions League Gathering-
There was definite movement and contact so it was, by the rules books, a red card for Dnipro.
That said, Soldado's elbow in the first half also should have been a red, and was arguably the more dangerous of the two incidents.

Would be awesome if a dark horse like Salzburg made it to the final. Only in the EL.

Guess you forgot Vert barging into the Ukrainian in provocation twice before the man raises his elbow merely to block his third. Provocation by the way, also a stronewall red while going down as if a crane ran into you head is ALSO a booking. We'll also forget Soldado's blatant elbow in the 1st half to which wasn't noticed.
Reds like this set poor examples for the rule book as its blatant exploitation of context as Vert's provocation was far more threatening than his opposer raising his elbow.

Plenty of pushing and shoving goes on in the box in every game before set pieces, however, He clearly headbutted Vertonghen regardless of the severity of the contact. Not interested in debating Soldado as I didn't see that nor care, I'm just objectively looking at this particular incident, which is a red card in the rules of the game.

Well that's a definite red too. Hopefully UEFA ban him for a few games.
Ref had what seemed to be a clear view

This wasn't pushing, this was blatant provocation of his fellow marker before even the set-piece was set up, each push more malicious than the previous one as in the rulebook any provocation that leads to a directly inverse incident either bars the red or results in the red of the one who provokes. I didn't see any intent from the Ukrainian outside him blocking his third push as its just simply a stupid decision by the official. A proper official controls the game rather than resorting to absolute decisions such as that. It seems anyone can find someones elbow and head into their face and drop down when the ref isn't looking, usually resulting in what it looks like, despite it not. Soldado's elbow does matter as its poor balance of officiating whom seemed to be watching the crows fly over White Hart Lane rather than monitoring the players.
Just poor officiating and a very unethical action by Vertoghen, unsurprising given what a dirty player he happens to be.

If Salzburg are as legit as they have been in Europe they may pass through Basel.
Easier said than done though. Basel have won may respect in the last cople of Seasons and I consider them a big club as well.

I don't care about a red card favouring a team that I don't care about playing a team I don't care about in a competition I don't care about but it's still disgraceful playacting.Firenze wrote:That's a stonewall red-card in the rules of the game, don't know why people are acting outraged, well I do, anything to hate on the GOAT league. I thought Spurs had more class than their players showed today. I expect that sort of thing from Real Madrid, but not Tottenham.
