Steven Fletcher and Danny Rose disappoint at Sunderland initiation
Louis Saha and Adam Johnson have made a positive first impression on their Sunderland team-mates, but Steven Fletcher and Danny Rose struggled with the traditional initiation.

Anyone signing for the big-spending Black Cats has to perform a song for the rest of the squad, and the new boys demonstrated their vocal talents on Friday evening.

Titus Bramble went in to Simon Cowell mode as he let slip the details, which was good news for former Spurs striker Saha and ex-Manchester City winger Johnson, but slightly embarrassing for record signing Fletcher and on-loan Tottenham defender Rose.

'Finally the new boys have sung their songs. @louissaha08 and @AJohno_11 were pretty good but not sure about @stevenfletch10 and rosey though,' Bramble tweeted.

The verdict was perhaps influenced by their song choices, as ex-Scotland striker Fletcher opted for The Proclaimers and England Under-21s international Rose made a patriotic selection

Bramble added: '@louissaha08 sung stand by me, @AJohno_11 sung wonderwall, @stevenfletch10 sung I would walk 500 miles and rosey the english national anthem.'

Sunderland fans will be looking for more imagination when the new signings turn out in the Premier League.

Each player called up to the Irish squad for the first time must sing a song at dinner....here's David Meyler's rendition of Uncle Kraker's 'Follow me'

Embarassed Quite cringe worthy tbh, but it got me wondering what initiation traditions other clubs may have. Anyone know any ?

Dunno if it should of been made public really, we have a bad enough time attracting players willing to move up here etc. If I knew I had to stand up in front of every one and sing a song think id sign for a different team.

Borussia M'gladbach has this singing tradition, too. It caused quite an upset in some Swiss online tabloids that Granit Xhaka chose the Albanian National hymn.

I wish they showed some of the videos. The "dancing competition" from the youth players was pretty good, you got to see the reactions from the senior squad aswell.
