Re: Spanish SuperCopa Second Leg: Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona
Madrid will definately score first and it will be from;
- valdes trying to be too clever
-mistake from busquets being pressed and giving the ball away
-a corner or set piece
Barca seem to play only after conceding, they always start slow. Personally I have a feeling we will lose 2-1 in this match or earn a draw after very controversial decisions. Barca haven't won a match convincingly vs Madrid since the 5-0. MOU will use the incident throughout the whole season and try to create an, "us against the world", attitude in his team

Re: Spanish SuperCopa Second Leg: Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona
about that... hadn't been for Valdes and messi being more clinical.
the previous game would have been a comfortable victory
i know... it's an if... but it was so close

No, not really, Pepe red card, valdes with an assist. These were not convincing victories. 1-3; I think Madrid were regarded as the better side and cr7 missed sitters that would have made it game over at 2-0.

Even the 3-2 win just a week ago was convincing ffs.
The 3-1 was certainly convincing as well. What do you want another 5-0? That simply will probably not happen again in this particular era. Madrid is too strong and they've learned their lessons since then.
And I highly doubt Mou would ever play Alonso at a lone DM, I don't know why anyone would.

I find this commentaries ridiculous. Madrid has not been able to beat us at home in 4 years, they have only won 2 times vs. us in the last 14 or so games and have in almost all games played much worse than us.
Yet according to some Barça fans, it is us who haven't looked "convincing" and need to prove ourselves and should be scared of Madrid.
No, no, and no. I am not scared of Madrid. We don't have any pressure to show that we are best, it's them. And I fully trust Valdes, the best GK in the world for us.
And we will win the Supercup today. Period.

Re: Spanish SuperCopa Second Leg: Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona
Yeah what's with the hate on Valdes? He's the best keeper in the world for us and I wouldn't trade him for anyone. Just because he made a mistake in a mickey mouse cup doesn't mean much...he's saved us many times vs Madrid as well.
I expect us to dominate Madrid, yet again. It's fun to watch each time, as well.
Modric isn't my favorite player, he's just the player I hype up the most, partially because I don't think he's rated enough, and partially because it annoys those that don't rate him. Anyway, Xavi is my favorite player, followed by Iniesta
And I'd rather puke my guts out and die than join the Evil, if we're being honest here.

Re: Spanish SuperCopa Second Leg: Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona
Madrid should have had a manita by now. Schoolboy stuff from Barcelona defenders. Didn't their alarm clock not go off this morning because they've all been sleeping.
Re: Spanish SuperCopa Second Leg: Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona
Without Alves and Adriano as right back the high line completely lost its shape and they seemed off the pace as well.
If not played rightly our style of playing and the high line can be a very dangerous tactic.
Montoya coming on has really helped us.
What a freekick by Messi!!!

Re: Spanish SuperCopa Second Leg: Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona
Disastrous first half. Defense???? Wake up!!!!
BTW i am definitely starting to hate Alexis. I disliked him, but now i really think he is poor man's Di Maria and i am starting to hate the sucker. The *bleep* just goes down even when he can run and reach the ball.
I agree Montoya coming in was good. So did Alexis leaving.
RM always pressure a lot in the first 30-45 minutes then they slow down, probably get tired. This time it worked for them thanks to stupid defensive mistakes and hate to say it, but CR7. He is too fast for such a high line with sleeping defenders.

We may have lost but some of the play in that that 2nd half was just
I knew a slow lackluster start would cost us. Its been like this for a while. I miss those electric starts during the eto'o days. We don't seem to press anymore @ the beginning of games.
Oh yeah and Valdes, we haven't forgotten despite your goat performance today. You built the foundations for this defeat in the 1st leg.

Re: Spanish SuperCopa Second Leg: Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona
I think Song was not bad.. he has potential, I will continue observing his play
We played great in the 2nd half. we had some really good periods and there were chances which we had to put away.
However, that 1st half...damn madrid came out strong...they really wanted the win. DON'T FORGEt guys that they got a goal from mistakes from both defenders. Pique and Mascherano, 9 times out of 10 would have stopped those passes but they f***ed up and I hope they learn from it. That being said, what makes good defenders great is when they step up when it counts. Clearly there was some uneasiness in our defence in the 1st half.
It could easily have been more embarrasing for us and I am still wondering how we took so long to respond (tactically or otherwise) to madrid's start.
As much as Adriano was poor, he took the red card for the team.

This proves it. Madrid can't beat us. Only we can beat ourselves...
Re: Spanish SuperCopa Second Leg: Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona
Does anyone have an explanation about how incredible poor we were until Adrian sent off??
Cause I just can't understand it.
Happy with our performance with ten men and with Pedro. what a phenomenon. twice the player Alexis is and ever will be.

I am wondering free_cat, how would you have felt if we signed Aguero instead of Alexis?

Valdes was just bad, but that is expected of him. If that guy wasn't Catalan, he would've been sent packing long ago. But because he is, Barca fans have to endure...

Re: Spanish SuperCopa Second Leg: Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona
Valdes shouldve saved that weak ronaldo shot...apart from that he was great but he again gave away a very cheap goal.
Re: Spanish SuperCopa Second Leg: Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona
Madrid were pressing great during the first half. Our midfield was being overrun and had no time on the ball. It was very weird to see us not being able to string 3 passes together before being disposessed. Busi's and Xavi's worst clasicos in the last 4 years? I would say so. Madrid had something to prove after Mou's public comments and we perhaps went into it with the wrong mentality.

Valdes makes some really great saves sometimes, and his mistake factor was really low for the past 3-4 years. Lately he has been having a bit more.

Give credit where it's due, Madrid completely dominated Barca in every way in the first half.

Just like Valdes after the initial error played very well, I think Mascherano too deserves credit for a few last ditch tackles and a few good long passes and doing all this after the initial blunder and being on a yellow card shows a lot of mental strength.

I think two reasons:
1. RM stepped down
2. our defense stepped up seing they were one man down. Also we weren't pushing forward that boldly with missing numbers.
If you take a notice both of RM goals were not even "normal" counterattacks, rather then defense clearance! So our defenders were pretty high up, as usual, but this time they were not ready, as the "counter" started with clearance.
