The page you linked, for instance, provides no actual source links or methodology (and no mention of how incentivized contracts are represented), leaves players out of the list entirely, and compares the 2014/15 wage bill with the 2013/14 financial information. The 2013/14 wage bill would include massive additional figures for Suarez, most notable, which is not found there.

lol hans
jesus I just googled liverpool wages and took the first link. It included the explicit disclaimer that while the wage bill is known the salary figures are not, and are therefore to be taken with a grain of salt - which is all I can ask for from a journo really and good enough for me.

just to put this into perspective. Liverpool survived when players like owen. torres. mcmanaman Alonso. masharano and suarez left. so im sure the club will survive without starling. anyway. sterling leaving will mean starts for ibe. who imo will be a better player than sterling anyway.

the thing I don't get is the fact he is being linked to arsenal. he turned down 100k a week. and says he wants to win things and money don't come into it. well he is as likely to win something at Liverpool as he is arsenal. and wont get 100k from them either. strange.

Let's not forgot the manner the situation has been handled by Sterling and his agent, RA can defend the lil *bleep* all he wants, as Sterling has every right to ask to leave if he wants to win trophys or money, but to go behind the club and do a back hand interview to force a move, *bleep* off lol.

I agree with what you say, especially the 4th point, but everything you say also backs the fact that he is not worth 100k+ in wages. And that's what I'm only pointing out.
I hope he either signs on the 100k per week that's been offered or leaves this summer.
He's worth what ever someone is willing to pay him..... there is no such thing as worth this and worth that outside of that.

Yeah that's right Mole, but were talking worth to us so when we say his not worth it to us, no point telling us his worth whatever the market wants to pay.

-CarragherFor a 20-year-old and his agent to be taking on Liverpool FC in the public domain is a disgrace. I have no issue about players maximising their earning potential but the agenda that is being driven from Sterling’s camp is beyond a joke.
Someone surely here is not butthurt.

Should probably link the rest of the article, which makes some quite salient points to flesh out his more radical statements. But then, that wouldn't exactly fit with the United fan's intent of attacking a Liverpool-legend turned pundit, would it?

Re: The Raheem Sterling Appreciation Thread
I'm surprised people here are shocked. All these English youngsters have no common sense. Pool will be wise not to cave into this kids demands. Nowhere near the level of 'captain fantastic' Rooney.
I hope Pool keep him and if he refuses to play he should be benched and left to rot. Simple as, he has a contract. There is nothing wrong with wanting to leave or wanting more money, but you have to show a bit more respect than that.

Sterling is by far the best U20 talent in Europe right now. We'd be absolute fools if we're not tapping him up after that interview.

absolutely, I dont know what Sterling will be in future but it would be funny if you have money and if you still lose Sterling, as an excpetional young talent of England.

If he were greedy he would take the 100 grand a week. The man wants trophies, and trophies he will get at City or Chelsea.

well you could have linked to it too. But you didn't and I'm not going to bother googling it, so I'll just respond to the part quoted.
It was Liverpool who started taking the thing into the public domain, by telling media how Sterling rejected this 'amazing' contract proposal.
Which is a pretty shitty thing to do tbh.
Way to go, now the fans are turning onto your best youngster and he felt the need to dig himself deeper in a hole with this painful TV interview.

That's not true though. Liverpool's comments on the "amazing proposal" came only AFTER information began coming out about Sterling refusing a previous deal and wanting more, as well as indications that there was potential outside interest.
You're usually quite measured in your discussions Hapless, and tend to speak only with solid information. I'm a bit confused why you're suddenly so willing to run with whatever you hear on this one...

Re: The Raheem Sterling Appreciation Thread
Right... it's all about trophies and got nothing at all to do with money... that's why after a challenge for the title and while still in the running for the FA Cup he's rejected the deal and asking for at least 50% more.Betty La Fea wrote:Nishy wrote:If you gotta currency surname, You gonna be greedy imo

Ambition may well have something to do with it, but don't dare pretend money isn't directly involved in this as well... it's just as false and asinine as those claiming Sterling is somehow morally corrupt for simply acting as players do.

He did say he would have signed a new contract at this time last year. When Liverpool were on contending for trophy. And next year isn't going to get any easier for Top 4 finish.

Who offers a player a contract when they have 3.5 years remaining and have just signed an extension 1 year ago?

FML what's wrong with Management, don't they remember what shankly said, what he built the Club on.
"The players are bigger than the club, there is no LFC without the players, give them all the money they want"
Now that i think about it, it's all our fans fault, they want cheaper tickets, so *bleep* selfish, don't they know Liverpool was built for the players, by the players, LFC is nothing without teenagers demanding money they aren't *bleep* worth.
Again this goes back ages ago when someone predicted it in the bible
"thy come a BR who will destroy the club, Change the name to BR FC.
1. Get McAgger out of you and man up. Wtf.
2. Why is Raheem Sterling dragging negotiations so late and then not expecting a response? Why has Raheem Sterling stalled giving himself a new contract? Why has Raheem stalled giving Gerrard a new contract, or given Henderson a new contract?
3. Jay Spearing doesn't play for Liverpool anymore. He doesn't receive wages from Liverpool, leave Sterling alone.
4. You're quoting the wrong part of the bible.
Psalm4:20 quotes "Life was so simple with Adam (trophies) and Eve (Liverpool), until the snake old Eve to eat the apple (Rodgers) which would eventually destroy mankind.

We were the greatest team 30 years ago.
Maybe he should sign a contract for 30 seasons.
We're not a title challenging side anymore. And you can quote me where I say we'll never win it with Brendan in charge.
We had one good fluky season where the whole PL was rebuilding / had new managers in and took advantage of it. And then by progressing, we sold the key player for our fluky season only to replace him with 6-7 squad players. We took 2 steps forward and 5 back with selling Suarez.
If Sterling wants to leave for trophies, so be it. He has a better chance of doing so leaving the club. The ambition we're showing losing Suarez, Gerrard, Agger (who should of gone, but replaced with LOVREN? ) and Sterling all in the space of around of 1 year.
mr-r34 wrote:Let's not forgot the manner the situation has been handled by Sterling and his agent, RA can defend the lil *bleep* all he wants, as Sterling has every right to ask to leave if he wants to win trophys or money, but to go behind the club and do a back hand interview to force a move, *bleep* off lol.
What the *bleep* are you on about?
All he pretty much said this was NOT FOR MONEY to defend HIMSELF.
It's not his fault Rodgers thinks he's above the club, and will "punish" him to make himself look bigger than he is.
"Force a move"
STERLING QUOTED:
“I don’t want to be perceived as the money-grabbing 20-year-old, I just want to be perceived as the kid who loves to play football,” said Sterling, in a BBC interview.
“It's not about the money at all. It's never been about money. I talk about winning trophies throughout my career. That's all I talk about.
He's stated both he and the club are waiting until the end of the season so he can evaluate his options. RODGERS did the same thing last season. Why wasn't he ridiculed for his decision to wait?
He's seeing SENIOR PLAYERS leave every summer, only to be replaced with a tier below for a "rebuilding Liverpool". He's been at the club for almost 6 years now and we've done the same shit for 6 years. There's no harm in him wanting to wait.
Why is Jordan Henderson free of all the bullshit? His contract ends in one years time. That's sooner than Sterling's. City are losing Milner, and will be looking for a replacement. Jordan Henderson has also rejected his contract offered from Liverpool. Is he just a "money grabbing whore"?
Sterling has EVERY RIGHT to wait. He will have talks to Liverpool come season end. He's looking after himself, and his career. He won't be signing anything near the region of 150k if he decides to leave.
The whole Arsenal link is lazy journalism.
They've been linked to him after he "delayed" his contract 3 years ago.
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/20398565
But yeah. What an overrated twat. Let's hope he goes to Bayern, eh?
