Discussing the possibility of Rangers AND Celtic playing in England
Hey, my mate wrote a piece this morning on the possibility of Rangers and Celtic playing in England. Maybe it's far-fetched for them to join the Prem, but what about Championship division? Have a read...
http://lastwordonsports.com/2012/07/16/should-the-premier-league-open-its-doors-to-rangers-and-celtic/
I don't agree with everything he says, BUT, financially it makes sense, and only makes the FA stronger. Agree? Disagree?

Rangers are going to the Scottish 3rd division. A bit of a jump up, 'in it?

Re: Discussing the possibility of Rangers AND Celtic playing in England
Would certainly be a good move for The two scottish clubs but I don't think the EPL would benefit as that is two better teams in the compitition and that makes it harder for all of the lower teams in England.
Especially when this new TV deal is going to make it even harder for teams to get into the EPL as once you're in there you are making so much money even if you do get relegated. This means any relegated teams will bounce back easily.
I personally would not be in favour.

F*ck this shit, having a welsh team is stupid enough. Might as well invite the whole world while we are at it.

Re: Discussing the possibility of Rangers AND Celtic playing in England
As awesome as this would be its not gonna happen. The top 3-4 clubs like Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal would probabaly vote for it since having the Old Firm in the EPL would make the TV rights deal even bigger, but the clubs under them? No. The heights Celtic and Rangers would reach if they played in the EPL are huge, the internaional fanbase, marketing potential etc, they have the potetial to reach top 5-6 easy, thats the reason why they won't be voted in. Small minded clubs like Everton and West Brom don't want to become the feeder clubs of more big teams.

GB is an Island though. It makes sense to have it be one league.

By that logic, Mallorca should play by themselves.

Re: Discussing the possibility of Rangers AND Celtic playing in England
It should be all Scottish teams of certain level together with the English clubs, then, not just two. And re-structuring the whole system in that case, to accommodate, say, the top twp divisions from Scotland in the English Football League and the Premier League.
But I don't see any need for this. Like Mole said, it's like all neighbouring countries would start merging their leagues. Scandinavian Football League? No thanks.

There's no such thing called GB/UK though that combines the European countries.

Portugal and Spain is exactly the same. There's more examples of this too.
Keep teams playing in their own country and no need for this crap.
Not to mention the logistic's would be a pain.

No it's not, your passport says "UK of GB and Northern Ireland", it doesn't say "England". England is not represented at the UN, the UK is. The Spanish passport doesn't say "Iberia".Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Portugal and Spain is exactly the same. There's more examples of this too.

Re: Discussing the possibility of Rangers AND Celtic playing in England
I'm not expert on politics and what have you, but haven't Scotland been trying to distance themselves from England for years now?
The Welsh FA have been upset about their players playing for Team GB in the Olympics. How do you think the Scottish FA would feel about merging with the English FA and having the majority of teams playing in the English league system?
It might be called the United Kingdom, but it really isn't all that united.

I meant as in it borders other countries.....
Anyway.
The Premier League is an English professional league for association football clubs. At the top of the English football league system.
Also what Jay said.

UK/GB is something official. Portugal and Spain aren't officially known as anything. It's just a region in Europe. Just like Scandinavia etc.

Re: Discussing the possibility of Rangers AND Celtic playing in England
What is Mole talking about? The Spain and Portugal thing is nothing like England and Scotland. For one. England and Scoltland are actually one country, Head of State is the queen, same passport and Westminster is the seat of goverment, even though Scotland have their own little goverment and can avoid crap like students paying £9000 to go to Uni, England still hold the power. Teams should be playing in the same leagues anyway, we've been one country for 3 centuries. If Scotland get Independence then you have a point, but at this moment, your talking rubbish.
