No idea what your babbling about, been watching football religiously since 1992 and even before then but not into it as much.

I also have an extensive DVD collection of every World Cup and Euro's and almost every major match Real Madrid has been a part of since the 50's

Iker has been my all time favourite yet quite frankly does not come close to Buffon in all aspects of goalkeeping. Took me long enough to admit that considering what brilliance I've seen from Gigi in the past 3 years reinventing himself whereas Iker has regressed.

Iker has been vital in 2 euro wins, a world cup win, CL wins..... yet people talk about Kahn or Buffon being way better than Iker like they have done much more.

i understand some might say Buffon in his prime was better or Kahn had a fantastic performance in world cup but overall and career wise Iker has saved his teams many times in most important stages. way more than Buffon or Kahn.

Using ones career is not the correct way to judge a player individually especially if it is involved with someone who is:

-The last line of defence
-Afforded a club with far more opportunity considering their expenditure.
-Afforded a country playing a catered system to which streamlines his role considerably compared to Buffon.
-Simply not as good as Buffon in any goalkeeping requisite bar reflexes, to which have eroded considerably fast.

Iker has had a storied career yet his failure to reinvent his game compared to Buffon who has adapted over three times in the last 6 years is a direct disparity.

Any student of goalkeeping will point out the stark differences between both of them as admittedly, Gigi trumps him in all.

What I've seen Casillas doing during our dark era (2004-2009) I've never seen any keeper do. Since Perez' second spell our defense got better and he didn't have as much to do as he had during that period. But when we had the likes of Woodgate, Metzelder, Heinze he was on another level to everyone I've ever seen.

Well that sentence was supposed to be a stretching counter for Buffon being flawless which is a stretch. in past few years he has show many flaws. unless you talk about his prime but we can't judge players only based on their prime. what about continuity?

Continuity is what has defined Buffon in his continual adaptation to all the situational that have come across Buffon. Iker still lives on the remnants of his now degrading reflexes and ignoring the consequences of those would just be one-sided.

No idea how anyone can say Buffon hasn't been one the best considering if not for his clutch performances in the 2nd half of Conte's 2nd season or all year this year for Italia and Juve, it would have been a much different story.

Buffon had a bad period by his standards after back surgery, he's back to being crucial for us once again

2nd half of 2nd season? in last 4-5 years i have seen like 20-25 games from Buffon and with all due respect he hasn't been like a WC keeper in one single of them.

Iker's degrading reflects has won us Liga's and CL's. he has a different style of goalkeeping but he is brilliant at what he does. many of his great years and his brilliance was wasted on Perez's attempt on building the galactic team. a team with no defence.

Nah i agree with you about that. both at their best, Buffon is the winner.

but in terms of continuity and influence on their teams success Iker has been better and has done a bit more imo.
