Pre Season tournament thread
Thought I would make a thread where we can discuss where our teams are off for pre season and who they are playing.
Sunderland are off to Korea to play in the peace cup with Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma, HSV & FC Groningen.
2012 Peace Cup
Are there any other tournaments that will be worth keeping an eye out for, especially if they have TV coverage.

The US tour, World Football Challenge, in which the Whites will meet LA Galaxy, Santos Laguna, AC Milan and Celtic.

Roma to play Polish side Zaglebie Lubin at Wrigley Field in Chicago, then Liverpool at Fenway Park in Boston and finally the El Salvador NT at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.
We're rumored to have a friendly lined up with Manchester City as well some time in August. Nothing to substantiate it at this point though.

Re: Pre Season tournament thread
Always find it a bit odd when teams from the same league play each other in pre season.
Seems like everyone has gone to America this year

Re: Pre Season tournament thread
The Leibherr Memorial Cup is on this Saturday, though it isn't live. Arsenal, Southampton and Anderlecht will play each 45 minute games against each other.
Other than that, we've got games against a Malaysia XI, Man City, Kitchee and FC Cologne. All on ESPN.

Re: Pre Season tournament thread
The winner of the peace cup we are playing in wins £2million.
Not bad really for playing a couple of friendly games.
Especially when you consider the winner of the FA cup only gets £1.8million and Liverpool only picked up £100k for winning last seasons carling cup.

Sort of hoping Borini would not play.
The friendly I'm looking forward the most is when Leverkusen come to Anfield on 12 August, Sami Hyypiä returning to Anfield as Leverkusen's manager.
The third quali round for Europa League is probably somewhere there between our friendlies.

Re: Pre Season tournament thread
Unfortunately there will not be an Audi Cup this year (last year had Bayern, Barcelona, AC Milan and SC Internacional participating in Munich), so in Germany the only mini tournament of note is the LIGAtotal!Cup 2012 in Hamburg with HSV, Bayern, Werder and Dortmund on 4./5. August 2012.

BTW, yesterday Dynamo Dresden (2nd Bundesliga) held ManCity to a scoreless draw, and Dresden didn't look bad at all. ^^

Re: Pre Season tournament thread
Today on 24 Jul 2012 you might try to catch the test match FC Schalke 04 vs AC Milan which starts 19:00 GMT+2.
Although I will more likely watch the CL qualification match of FC Basel vs Flora Tallinn which starts 20:00 GMT+2 tonight. ^^

Hamburg SV - FC Barcelona
Imtech Arena
Prepare for a B-team though and there will be no Leo magic.
EDIT: Not a tournament though, but a pre-season friendly none the less.

No Messi? I thought HSV wanted to slash some million of the fee Barca gets if they show up without Messi.Hete BLKSM wrote:Tuesday, 07/24/2012 18:00

Re: Pre Season tournament thread
Messi (supposedly) got injured during training. HSV can't force a team to field an injured player, so there you go. I heard they are bringing 10 players from the first team and some youngsters. I'm pretty sure Afellay will play (for whoever is interested ).
EDIT: List of players. But this was from before they announced Messi's injury.
Pinto (13)
Oier (25)
Dani Alves (2)
Bartra (3)
Ilie (4)
Muniesa (5)
Sergi Roberto (6)
Deulofeu (7)
Dos Santos (
Alexis (9)
Messi (10)
Rafinha (12)
Mascherano (14)
Joan Àngel Román (15)
Sergi Gómez (16)
Lobato (17)
Patric (18)
Planas (19)
Afellay (20)
Adriano (21)
Balliu (23)
Espinosa (24)

Re: Pre Season tournament thread
LOL, I see. Injured... XD
BTW, I just read that the HSV still has to pay less for Barca as they have put it into the contract that Messi has to play or they can cut the fee. Clever after all
Oh, and the match will be broadcast live at the ARD this evening, and there should be a stream available at ard.de (if you have a proxy from the right location ^^)
The above mentioned match Schalke 04 vs AC Milan will also be broadcast live in Germany, at Sport1. So I guess a stream should be available somewhere, too.

Messi is never injured, he is just resting once in a while. Legs full of roids since his teens.

Re: Pre Season tournament thread
I would be kind of surprised if that were the case. If HSV have no hard proof that this injury was faked, it would be reasonable not to invoke the clause. It would be in their best interest not to damage the relationship.
