Who will win Ligue 1 next season and what will be the top 3?

Obvious paper favorites are PSG, but I can't discount Lyon or Marseille.

Montpellier and Lille, having sold their best players, is likely to still have a say in what goes on, but with the former having to contend with the CL with a weaker squad than last season, I can't see them defending their title this season.

Ultimately, it's a bit too early as I'd like to see who Lille get to replace Hazard and how much Lyon and Marseille strengthen. This could easily end up being a 3 or 4 horse race, but not 5 as one of these sides is not going to do well on the market.

I'm not terribly confident of Lille or Montpellier's chances of contending for the Ligue 1 title. It will be interesting to see just how Montpellier react to losing the focal point of their attack. They've lost fewer crucial players (at least so far) than Lille, but Giroud was crucial to their success last season. In the past few seasons, Lille have lost crucial players such as Hazard, Gervinho, Sow, Cole, Cabaye, and look likely to lose Debuchy. That kind of turnover is difficult to replace, especially considering that they weren't perennial title contenders prior to the losses.

The truth is it's far too early to make any real predictions about how the season will turn out. Obviously PSG's recent expenditures make them favorites to take the title, but nothing is ever certain in football. Marseille are coming off of a somewhat disappointing season and the loss of their coach. Lyon underachieved last season, it has to be said. However, there's no guarantee they will improve their effort this season.

Looking at the entire field only strengthens my gut feeling that this will be PSG's year. It's not so much that PSG are that good, but that the obvious challengers are in a state of transition. It looks likely to be PSG's to lose with the 2nd and 3rd spots wide open.

It should be PSG on paper but you never know. They will be in the CL as well, hence a team like Lyon can concentrate in the league and do better.

Montpellier have the same team bar Giroud and with Cabella stepping up, they can retain the Ligue 1 but unlikely as their squad isn't big enough for both CL n the League.

next year should be interesting. Lille are done. Monaco making noise... and OM and PSG shouls both be better if Monaco leaves OM players alone ffs. There are still Porto players left for them to poach...
