Juventus to make Jovetic bid? Empty Juventus to make Jovetic bid?

Post by Juventude Mon 18 Jun 2012 - 15:38

Juventus are reportedly working on a big-money deal to bring Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic to the club.

The Montenegrin striker is being tipped by some to depart the Artemio Franchi this summer and his agent, Fali Ramadani, is thought to be in preliminary negotiations with Juve already.

Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade has claimed that Jovetic won’t be sold, but he has left the door open for an exit if his client wanted a new adventure.

According to Tutto Juve, the Old Lady could tempt the Viola with a notable player plus cash deal.

It is being claimed that the Italian champions could offer €17m, as well as the services of striker Alessandro Matri.

The Italian forward was Juve’s top scorer with 10 League goals this season, but he lost his place in the starting XI after a goal drought in the closing months of the campaign.

The Fiorentina hitman, 22, netted 14 goals in Serie A during the 2011-12 campaign.

I support this move over Giovinco. Force Parma to a blind auction. We should put in a max bid of 13 million or so. If Parma beats it, use that money for Jovetic and sign a top CF.

17m € + Matri? Sounds like a good deal to me. Matri is good and Fiorentina lacks a good forward. He would do great in Fiorentina and Jovetic could finally end up in a big club.. I would love Jojo playing for us next season (Vucinic as the key in this deal?)......

Imagine if we managed to sign Jojo for 17m + Matri and a top class CF like Higuain as well. It would be the greatest mercato i can remember!!

I agree and at 22 years old, I think he is a better option than Gio. I think that he is already a better player than Giovinco and he doesn't give up the size that Gio does. Vucinic and Jovetic in attack with a great CF would be killer.

Yup. Jovetic > Giovinco. In terms of age and statistics..

I have my doubts Jovetic could play with Vucinic is attack. In fact i find it hard to believe they could play alongside each other. Jovetic is very narrow in his playing style, more direct. With Vucinic and Jovetic we would play something like what Russia did in the Euros - great counterattacks but lacking when it comes to powerplay..

Vucinic - CF - Jovetic is very narrow and direct..
Jovetic - CF - Pepe is more suited for powerplay..

However, Jovetic has a very good workrate and now that he is still very young Conte could possibly suit him to the tactics. It would be stupid to bench any of Jovetic and Vucinic as they're both top class IMO.

I would take Jovetic and keep Vucinic any day as we have enough scheduled matches for both of them.

LWL91, what do you mean when you say 'powerplay'?... just so there's not misunderstanding, i'm interested in what you're saying, and asking for clarification, not trying to be critical.

however, i think in certain situations, vucinic- jovetic combination would work quite well; in other situations, not so much, and in others the two of them w/ another, CF, in a 3-man fwd line could work too

"Powerplay" might be the wrong word.. What i mean is the style of play that we're playing against smaller teams, or whenever we're behind and need a goal really bad. Like we saw in the final 20 minutes against Napoli in the Coppa Final.
When our fullbacks are pushed as far forward as possible and we're rolling around the ball to open up the opponent defense.

The reason why people (incl myself) says a Vucinic-Jovetic frontline could be fragile is because they're both considered second strikers. But you can look back in time and see just how many goals a certain number 10 scored for us in the 90's and 00's. Alex was our top scorer in times when he played alongside Trezeguet... When a SS can be topscorer i see no reason not to play with two..

Add to that the tactics we're playing is offering a lot of possibilities for our midfielders to put the ball in the back of the net as well. With two creative players up front in a 3-5-2 Jovetic could provide assists to Marchisio, Vidal, Pirlo etc.. That's the true beauty of Conte's football IMO..

i understand and agree that in those situations you might want a stronger CF to post up and receive and hold the ball, knock down headers to teammates and get on the end of crosses.

with that said, maybe in times like that conte lines up like

CF
SS SS

or with the SSs out wider.

obviously i don't really know. what i will say though, is that conte has shown us that he is willing to try different tactics, and i don't think we've seen all of his tricks yet, so you never know how we'll line up in the future

Wow, never thought of Jovetic for Juve, might be insane if this goes through.

I doubt it will happen. Now that Gio has returned and Marotta has stated that Gio will not be sold, there isn't a lot of room for Jovetic.
