Very difficult... Chelsea won the cup riding a wave of luck and top defending so I don't think Drogba or a forward like Mata deserves it.

I think Cech and Ashley Cole were their best players. They have them to thank, massive influences.

On the whole tournament, Messi was the influential player. Flopped in one game, absolutely brilliant in 80% of the others.

No huge standouts and because Chelsea won it will likely go to one of them.

if missing a penalty is flopping then yes he is flopped but he created 6 chances (2 for himself) and 1 assist to iniesta. at the end he hit the post. in another day it would be a messi show

Messi's contributions won Barca the group, defeated Leverkusen and Milan, and he also created chances for his teammates to bury Chelsea.

Drogba was lucky he didn't get his team out of the competition when giving away penalties in both the semifinal and the final. Besides that he was good in the later stages but I wouldn't put him as CL player of the season.
