How Highly Do You Rate M'Vila?
According to Sky, Vieira has flown over to get M'Vila for City before Arsenal can.
I've never watched Rennes really so I don't know much about this player.
On YouTube he looks very, very overrated. But that's youtube and I can't judge a player from that.

The world cup tarnished his reputation when he was out run by Ozil.

Ah, so instead of just buying our players outright you've elected to actually hijack the deals prematurely. Classy.

He was running?
I could swear he stopped and started chanting "Go Ozil Go".

From the little I've seen, though, M'Vila looks no better than De Jong.
They both sit in front of the back 4 without getting forward much.
They both tend to play easy passes (generally).

That's his role. Recover the ball, cover a lot pitch and don't miss passes. He has to make the connection between defense and attack.

Re: How Highly Do You Rate M'Vila?
M'Vila can go forward, but he is better in the pure DM role.
This surely means that you have given up on Javi, and therefore he is coming to Madrid

That's why I don't consider that a hijacking. More of taking a bullet for Lille. They owe us.

I'd rather we keep De Jong then.S32TABLANCA wrote:M'Vila can go forward, but he is better in the pure DM role.

But there are reports that Inter want De Jong, and he still hasn't renewed a contract.
I prefer box to box mids like Barry that contribute to attacks, pass the ball well, run a lot, but are intelligent in their positioning and know when to cover. Like a Martinez.

Re: How Highly Do You Rate M'Vila?
Interesting stat about M'Vila this year although he was up and down. He completed over 2000 passes in Ligue 1. That hasn't been done since Gourcuff did it at Bordeaux.
He can play. He had some off the field issues and then the fans started booing him. It made for a tough last 4 months for him.

Martinez would be so perfect for you guys. It would really complete the midfield, together with Yaya.
Shame we'll be taking him though

I just thought that was a really impressive stat for a player like M'Vila who has very little help around him at Rennes. Completely different player than Gourcuff.
To get back on subject, M'Vila has the talent to be the best at his position in the world. But the question is whether he has the mental makeup to do it. There's nothing for him to prove at Ligue 1 anymore... i think a challenge will do him a lot of good.
He's only 21.

Re: How Highly Do You Rate M'Vila?
The question for me is can he improve? Because i have not seen any to much improvement in his game, he seems like the same player a few years ago.
He is only 21, so that is the biggest thing working for him.
I wouldn't consider M'villa as a pure DM.

He's one of my favourite players and would do just fine with Song partnering him, really hope we get him instead of anyone else.

If he can improve, Wenger would be the perfect person to help him do this. Look what's he done with Song, and more recent Koscielny. No one had even heard of the guy before Wenger signed him. And M'Villa being French... yeah!

He's absolutely a pure DM imo.

Re: How Highly Do You Rate M'Vila?
Looks like we have to have till Sunday to hear news about his future, hopefully Arsenal has already signed him but are waiting till the French league ends, like the Podolski case.M'Vila wrote:"I'll make my decision after the game against Dijon [on Sunday]," M’Vila told RMC.
