Re: RvP Contract Talks
Never believed for a sec he will sign. When the players want to sign a contract, they do it the min contract is offered. Look at Vermaelen, Sagna, Diaby, Song. They all signed it in the middle of the season. When a player wants to think about it. That's the sign he isn't gonna sign.
I'll say what i have been saying it all the way. I am not mad, He can gtfo to tottenham if he wants. My respect towards him have completely gone. We stood by him for 8 years and this is how he repay us. Joke
I don't understand how he can say that the club doesn't match his ambition. The signings we have been making this season and are going to make later on. What exactly does he want us to do ? sign Sniejder for him ?
When the player becomes bigger than the club. He should be sold as soon as possible

Re: RvP Contract Talks
He has been my favourite player in the world for about 6 years now, even when injured, but by even saying this he's lost a lot of my respect. Out of my blind love for the guy, I almost hope we keep him anyway, attempt to win some trophies and use that to convince him to re-sign during next season if all goes well (i.e. prove to him that he is wrong), but at the same time it would make the most sense to sell him. A major problem with this though is that, by issuing this public statement, we have lost a major bargaining chip in all negotiations for him - teams will not offer as much as they would if they know there's no chance of him staying at Arsenal!
There isn't a club in the world I will be happy seeing him play for instead of us, but if he stays in England he can go f*ck himself. And ftr, most people leave when we aren't making signings. Here we are signing top players for once and RvP wants to jump ship? Wtf.

Re: RvP Contract Talks
Arsenal's statement will probably just express disappointment at what van Persie has said, and assure fans that they want to win, that they've always targeted the Premier League/Champions League, etc etc. I'm not expecting much.
It's still something that needs to be said, though. Whether there will be actions behind the words is another matter.

THIS
I'm just guessing here but
If he knows that he's gonna leave the club no matter what, this is really one dick move. Clubs now has upper hand in negotiation.

Re: RvP Contract Talks
i have a feeling he will go to mancity, not because rvp wants too, but because arsenal would want to profit from him as much as possible.
tbh i dont care really, he is replaceable, just like nasri. giroud will probably score a similar amount of goals next season, since he looks clinical. only player of the past years i really did not want to leave was cesc, since he was such a special player.but everyone else is replacable tbh. hopefully arsenal reinvest in a DM, AM and versatile defender and id be happy.
i have lost a lot of respect for rvp

I am actually so annoyed we have lost our captain two seasons in a row.
I thought RVP was not like Fabregas but I have been proven wrong, the club stuck by him through seasons of injuries and gave him a chance and also gave him the captains armband and this is how we are repaid.
If he signs for another EPL club... don't even get me started.....

Re: RvP Contract Talks
It is ironic that the policies that van Persie apparently don't agree with are the same policies that kept him at the club during a time where he couldn't string together consecutive games without getting injured.

nah fab is different i still love him, he gave us 8 years of good service and he has moved to his fav club in barca away from epl. cesc is nothing like rvp, i have massive respect for cesc.
rvp has been useless for the majority of his time at arsenal because of his injures. if it was another big club he would have been sold to a club like everton long ago, just like saha. but just one good season and he thinks he can call the shots and disrespect the club. rvp is just like nasri

Re: RvP Contract Talks
Yea I wrote that in anger.
Fabregas was loyal and we knew he would go back to Barcelona eventually as he didn't lie about it and said he would like to one day.
Just losing both our captains in last two seasons is really demoralising I guess Vermaelen will be the new captain now.
It sort of makes sense with Giroud and Podloski signings.

Re: RvP Contract Talks
Playing devil's advocate for a moment, i can sort of see what he's talking about. How many times last season did we all say "oh, if RVP left at the end of the season, i wouldn't blame him" off the back of some abysmal games (being schooled by Swansea and letting Fulham come back and beat us, among others)
I don't really blame him for considering his options, but at the same time, i'm done with him

Re: RvP Contract Talks
Clubs response:
Arsenal Football Club has issued the following statement with regard to Robin van Persie's future:
" We have to respect Robin's decision not to renew his contract. Robin has one year to run on his current contract and we are confident that he will fulfil his commitments to the Club.
"We are planning with ambition and confidence for next season with Arsenal's best interests in mind."

The club's response:
Seems a bit lacking. A lot more is probably being said behind the scenes, but I think a stronger statement was needed.
Oh well. Guess we'll see what happens.

Which means sell the dude as much as possible.
btw, this is such nonchalant response, I do not gain any more insight into the situation.

I think that's the point. The club is trying to regain control over the situation by saying they expect van Persie to be remain committed despite not wanting to renew his contract. They're essentially giving van Persie the choice of staying at the club, or formally asking for a transfer which, from a PR perspective, is a far better outcome than having the player force you to sell him.
Also, apparently, Ivan Gazidis was not on a two week holiday.

Re: RvP Contract Talks
Bon voyage Mr. Van Persie. Don't let the door hit you in the butt on your way out.
Personally, I'm completely ambivalent about this. Players come and go. Arsenal has to sell him this summer now. If he stays, he will be the subject of scorn and ridicule from fans and that would only create turmoil in the club. Take the money and invest it in new players to strengthen the squad overall. It's not good to depend on one player for goals as much as Arsenal did this past year. In fact, once Van Persie cooled off a bit late in the season, Arsenal struggled. This is the perfect time to move him anyway. He will be 29 when the season starts and considering his injury history his productivity is far from guaranteed anyway. His value has never been higher than it is right now and may never be again. I look forward to seeing how it all plays out. Hopefully the new Arsenal players will be able to accomplish things that Mr. Van Persie, Mr. Fabregas and Mr. Mouthasri could not.
