No, Crim, check chelsea's fixtures around that time.
we were playing two games per week throughout April which included Spurs, Barca and Arsenal all within a week.
you lost because you weren't the best team on the day.
You rested players...... really?

Re: A simple poll on the UCL SF's?
tbf chelsea have being playing games every 3 or 4 days this year right up till last week, and although having the classico between the two semis wouldnt have helped chelsea did play either spuds or arsenal (i cant rememeber) between the two semis which i understand arent as big games as classicos but still they were must win derby games for us and no doubt those games would have taken alot out of our players too, from memory the CL semi was ramires' 4th game in 2 weeks

You could have too, but you chose not to and lost.
The fixture list wasn't any harder for Barca or Real.

Are you clueless? Why would we rest players in a Clasico? You do know clasico has became much more than a normal league game? We wouldn't rest players even if it was a friendly ffs. Besides, what if we rested players and lost the game in a LEAGUE DECIDING clasico? No team has reached 100 points ever in a league. Had we lost, we would need 100 points to win the league, which is almost near impossible.

How is this any different to what Chelsea did? We were playing a Vital Game (arsenal) against one of our biggest rivals, AFTER BEING MADE TO LOOK LIKE FOOLS EARLIER IN THE SEASON, We chose to put all our strength in CL and it paid off. we also got a draw out of it. Real could have done the same.
Real did not, they tried to win it all and lost. Stop complaining and prioritise next time. We did.

Re: A simple poll on the UCL SF's?
Chelsea gave up for the 4th place and Bayern gave up the league in preference to Champions League, both Barcelona and Real Madrid could've done same - but they didn't. Atleast Barca tried to rest some players, but Real Madrid didn't.
Chelsea and Bayern München are in the final because they deserved it, just let it go.

dont talk sh1t like you had as hard fixture as us cause there are plenty of possibilities that could give you the spot for the CL and thats either by even losing to arsenal and winning the rest (for example newcastle) or by losing all and just win the CL.
one phrase is needed to explain the argument
both chelsea and bayern rested their players and we did not
the point is not that we Could rest ours too.. the point is if it affected the outcome and it did imo always

Re: A simple poll on the UCL SF's?
Couldn't rest players, bollocks. Ever heard of playing for the Draw?
At that stage your were ahead of Barca on points, you could have put out a B team full of defenders and did exactly what we did, Defend.
You guys went for it all and lost.

you may be right about that
but thats not my point
even if its an excuse all im saying is it did affect the outcome no matter if we could rest our players and we did not
and it seems you somehow agree judging by your last quote

Playing for a draw vs. Barcelona with your B-team

Chelsea beating Barcelona with 10 men, Ramires at Rb and Bosingwa at CB.
also, How many of Chelsea's team that played the second leg would be a starter at Madrid? not many.

Re: A simple poll on the UCL SF's?
um, the draw is made by computer, if the clasico is scheduled any time beyond late october the return game is always going to coincide with cl knockouts...

also, to prove how idiotic this comment was, I will post the lineup we finished the game with.
Cech
Ramires Bosingwa Ivanovic Cole
Kalou Lampard Mikel Meireles Torres
Ramires Bosingwa Ivanovic Cole
Kalou Lampard Mikel Meireles Torres
of that lineup, hmmm, none would make it into Real's starting XI.
effectively, we Beat Barca with a Real Madrid B team and a man down.

Re: A simple poll on the UCL SF's?
LMAO and you think you won it becouse you defended well?
You didn't even shut them off, their finishing was beyond crap that day. Busquets missed a fkn open net ffs, you won it by your determination, hardwork and extreme major luck (biggest factor). Not to mention you surprised them, they didn't even take you seriously at the beginning of the match
Don't think that will happen every game.... You don't win games like Barcelona with your B-team, you need to wake up man

Winning a game like El-Clasico a game where they have been pwned time and again in recent years ,you would've expected Madrid to all guns blazing in the Champions League.Fatigue is such a poor excuse..It is Mou's fault for not rotating players.Madrid at the end of the day were simply beaten by a superior team.
Whereas Barca lost due to tactics and poor finishing.

no, I think we had a chance because the way we played, who is to say Barca wouldn't do the same against you.
what would Barca take a Madrid B team seriously if they were sent out? no.
also, Hercules says hi. upsets happen in football.

Re: A simple poll on the UCL SF's?
Okay, after reading your posts I just realized that we should depend more on upsets in league deciding games so we could rest players for UCL.
Great idea man, I'm sure it will work out every time.

Playing for a draw is not an upset, playing for the draw and getting a win is. if you did draw against them you would still win La Liga. all I have been saying is if you wanted to rest players, play for the draw.
instead of playing to win every game, then losing the important one.

Real Madrid lost on penalties, I would hardly call that "beaten by a superior team" (since the score was 2-1 to Real's favour). As for Barcelona, they missed 5 1v1's in the space of 2 matches, something I have never seen when it comes to Pep's Barcelona. Their tactics were like any other match I've seen from them so you're correct with the poor finishing.
As for the whole thread thing, it's just an excuse really. Yes, the Clasico did have an effect on both teams but it wasn't the be all and end all reason. Bayern played great and Chelsea defending as best as they could while riding serious luck. All in all, I have no complaints...

Re: A simple poll on the UCL SF's?
Barca and Real fans, this thread could've happened without responding to Chelsea/Bayern. Chelsea/Bayern fans, the point of this was NOT about whether or not your wins were deserved. Can we just all agree that what happened, happened, and there are no excuses to make it; however, for the future, the Spanish FA would benefit most if they put their best foot forward in the CL, and they could do that by scheduling differently. There, now everyone can agree and this rehashing of games that happened a month ago can stop.

Re: A simple poll on the UCL SF's?
The scheduling is funny, 2 or so seasons ago Madrid played the same team Barca faced the game before... so say Barca played Malaga on Match day 1 Real immediately played them on Match day 2.... beautiful computer doing this???? bollocks
was the scheduling the reason Ramos' girlfriend told him she had dumped him before he took the penalty??? Nopp
But was it the reason most Madrid players looked like they had been to the army the day before???? yes most certainly
All in all do we need to change it??? yh, poor Bilbao had to take the plane straight to Barcelona after an EL game, no rest no nothing, thats how funny the schedules are

Re: A simple poll on the UCL SF's?
I think it's in la liga's best interest to ease the schedule on teams playing the later stages of european competitions since it's in their best interest to keep getting the highest possible uefa coefficient. It did have an impact, and I think it was poor planning. This is not an excuse, it's a fact.

Re: A simple poll on the UCL SF's?
again... the scheduling is done by a computer for the first half of the season, second half is same fixtures return leg... ergo, you have about 1/3 chance that the return games will coincide with late cl knockout rounds
maybe if barcelona weren't treating easy away games like exhibition matches and madrid didn't play the same starting xi 50 times a year they wouldn't have had fatigue problems at the time of the season when every top team expects to play difficult games as they push for both domestic titles and cl
