It would be amazing if 2011 repeats itself. But I dont see it happening. However I do like that there is a high potential for upsets.

I think this is actually the first I've seen a team qualify to the QFs with 2 points. 4 is usually the magic number.

I honestly believe Paraguay and Argentina are 2 of the most polarizing teams in SA. Everyone knows about Argentina, but none know about Paraguay. 1 match they can look like a well organized team then the other they turn to shite. For example, in the last 2 match days for the 2018 qualifiers, Paraguay had to beat Colombia away and Venezuela at home to qualify. They defeated Colombia in the dying minutes of the game (beating Colombia away is too difficult with the heat), only to lose to last place Venezuela. The banter and memes against Paraguay that day was hilarious

Firmino was actually the forward for most of the game. Gabriel was on the wings where he's somehow even more useless. Richarlison would be an option but he was diagnosed with mumps.

We have a 17 year old kid from Fluminense who's been tearing it up the past couple of months. Pedro had a great first half of the Brasileirao last year but had a pretty serious injury and is just coming back. There's a few more promises but none that would warrant a chance with the national team right now. That's just how it is right now.

I don't even think Firmino/Gabriel Jesus are the main problems right now. Tite is clueless when it comes to breaking down defensive teams. He's also really stubborn. Coutinho hasn't had a good game in over a year, yet he's still getting 90 minutes every game. Why not try a midfield three with Allan or Paqueta with Arthur and Casemiro? The whole team is too static. We're relying on individual brilliance to win games and we don't have much individual brilliance to do that. Today's game was embarrassing.

Brings me back to 2011 when Uruguay were the only heavyweights left In the semifinals. One of the semis was between Paraguay and Venezuela. It was a huge stinker. Shame because their matchup in the group stage was fantastic.
