1st signing of the year
Nancy's Traore announces AC Milan move
The Malian midfielder has confirmed that he will ply his trade at San Siro next season and stressed that he is confident about his chances of making an impression in Italy
May 8, 2012 5:45:00 PM By Luis Mira
Nancy midfielder Bakaye Traore has announced that he has agreed to join AC Milan at the end of the season.
The details of the transfer were not released by the 27-year-old, but it is believed that he will join Milan for nothing as his contract with Nancy expires in June.
"I am very proud to have signed for a big club, who have some of the best players in the world," Traore told RMC.
"I hope that this will go well and that this will be a step forward. I am not afraid of the competition.
"Every player that wants to improve must not be afraid. If I am good, I know that I will have my chance, as they told me."
Traore, a Mali international, had also been linked with Newcastle and Olympique de Marseille after establishing himself as a key player at Nancy since he joined the club in 2009.
now, i have no idea who the hell he is. so please, if someone here knows him to a T, the position he plays, which player can he be compared to in style of play, is he any good? on a scale of 1 to 10 how much to you rate him?
please, only people who have seen him and actually know him comment... i really wanna know what we got

We can't, he's contract doesn't expire till 2015
Seriously though, I'm only disappointed that he isn't a quality player, however all of us pretty much agreed that Ambro and MvB can't keep up physically for a whole season. At least this Traore fella is physically in better shape than both of those two.

Re: 1st signing of the year
He's 27 and has never played in the Europa League, let alone the Champions League. If this is the type of signing we're going to make I'd rather keep both Ambrosini and Van Bommel, you can't replace tactical nous and experience with pure physicality. If he isn't being brought in as simply a back-up to other members of a first choice midfield who are yet to arrive I'll be livid. I'll give him a chance as I would any player I haven't seen, however pressure needs to be applied to Galliani immediately. This deal has been brewing for a few months and to me it just demonstrates a smug and complacent attitude. This scudetto loss needs to shake up our transfer policy, not deliver more disappointment.

You know an argument could be made that previous experience/exposure to European competition is not a vital factor in a players chances of success within a big team... however i can't shake the unbelievable amount of disappointment/shame/disgust i'm feeling atm..

Re: 1st signing of the year
Indeed, I can name quite a few counter-examples. Late bloomers can even have quite a crushing effect on European competition, Diego Milito was central to Inter's European success in his first Champions League campaign, though his class had already been established at Genoa in the league.
Unfortunately I can't exactly say that I'm feeling the start of a fairytale story though. We might have at least chosen a younger player.

Re: 1st signing of the year
I feel that only one of MVB and Ambrosini will be retained. Similarly only one of Gattuso and Flamini, with Seedorf and Emanuelson as possible departures and Aquilani all but confirmed to be going by the selection policy of Allegri.

Re: 1st signing of the year
I wasn't trying to make a point, I'm still in the stage where I'm trying to convince myself that this transfer it isn't as bad as it looks. ( but we know it is, don't we )
