Soon to be world class: Coquelin Thread
hopefully he gets more games next season, i know the word world class is used a lot, however coq is going to be a world class player imo, we cant let this player loose his head and want to leave. he is truly an amazing young dm/cm, not many people know about yet. the guy can even play rb very effectively as well, amazing skills going forward and defensively.
Coquelin and wilshere are the future of arsenals mid imo, world class due

To me he seems like a more defense Wilshere. He needs to improve with his passing though.

Amazing potential, probably the most interesting prospect we've got atm.
He's the reason why the M'Vila rumours worry/annoy me. If M'Vila does indeed come, we could be losing one of the brightest prospects we've had in ages.

Re: Soon to be world class: Coquelin Thread
I thought the thread was about..
Koscielny..
Coquelin was doing great.. I am also sad that he is not getting much chances.. He could have surely got more chances at the expense of Ramsey this season if he was fit..
Yeah.. We dont need more defensive midfielders.. Need a striker and a playmaker..

Re: Soon to be world class: Coquelin Thread
Coquelin is one talent to watch and it will be shame if he does leave. He has good future ahead of him if he avoids getting injured. He is the defensive version of Rosicky, always on the move and doesnt hold the ball that much. He however needs some playing time to gain more experience. I would love to see him play for Arsenal but if thats not possible next season then i would love to see him go on loan to a PL club.
I dont know why are we even going M'vila because we already have a good DM and 2 good backup players. But again its Wenger and i trust his decision.

Coquelin is very young, I would not mind loaning him out to a EPL team for a year, would be a great move for his carrier imo.

different players, coqulin will definitely make it if he doesn't have injuries, and that is because of his PURE aggression, something that denilson severely lacked.

Thank you REWB for making this thread. He's my fav player on the team, because he does EVERYTHING.
Maradonna is an idiot for comparing him to denilson btw.... And no more loans for Coquelin. He's deserving of starts in this team RIGHT NOW.

Re: Soon to be world class: Coquelin Thread
I was curious what people thought about Coquelin's future at Arsenal, and saw this thread and thought I'd bump it.
Now that it seems the club have all but given up on Frimpong, how much chance do you all think that Coquelin could still make it, long-term? He hasn't played very often this season, and since he's going to be 22 soon, the club will have to use a slot to register him in the squad for next season if he stays (he's still U21 this current season, right?). And Coquelin counts as homegrown. Yet he hasn't gotten a new contract like the young British contingent.
Any thoughts?

His contract was extended last year right? When he wanted assurances over playing time?
I have no qualms about registering him with the 1st team. He has the potential. But the summer is crucial for him.

Re: Soon to be world class: Coquelin Thread
Was it just last year his contract got extended? It seemed longer ago to me, but I guess I was mistaken.
But yeah, since we probably won't be able to offload an injured Diaby (who may or may not end up registered, himself), and everybody is crying out for a DM/CM signing, it seems like there would not be a great deal of midfield space if Coquelin goes in there too. Which won't really help his problem of not getting enough games. He's only made eleven league appearances this season ...

I could be wrong.. Thats what I remm..
Yeah, throw in Diaby and the Ramsey-Arteta partnership, and I see where you are coming from. There is a need to invest in a replacement for Diaby. Atleast now.

I can bet any money Coquelin can player better on wings than Theo. I wish Wenger gave coquelin as much as chances as others.
Arteta is great but I would have loved to see Coq get some minutes.
A lot of favoritism going on at Arsenal, Wenger is not fair.

...... and you would be among the first to start a Wenger witchhunt when Coquelin plays and puts in a poor shift.

How bad could he play? not worse than Ramsey was or Theo now? I thought Coq played well for the little amount of minutes he got.

So you want to play a CM/CDM and the occasional RB at RW.... You're just recreating a worse Ramsey situation.

I am not saying we should, just saying many games this year we could have used him and choose not to. The part about being better RW than Walcott was due to how bad Theo is and gets minutes every game. I dont want to play Coq any other position other than his CM.

I said Ramsey was, I know he has been doing well lately but past few games our midfield has done *bleep* all.
I have watched every game, he has done well nothing special.

Re: Soon to be world class: Coquelin Thread
It's possible that Coquelin just hasn't developed enough in certain areas to warrant Wenger giving him more first team opportunities. He's 22 now yet no closer to breaking into the first team than he was this time last season, and when you consider the current form of our midfielders it's difficult to see that changing.
Unfortunately, Coquelin may well be one those talents we'll have to wave goodbye to. He's got obvious potential, but Arsenal don't really play with a ball winner in their midfield; they use a passer who has developed defensive skills like Arteta and Ramsey. Though we feel Coquelin can add some much needed aggression to the midfield, I think most would agree that a stronger player would be better.
It's difficult for Wenger because he's got Wilshere, who needs games to continue developing but is already an important player for us, and Ramsey, who needs game to find his form and role in the team and is currently doing so, as well as Coquelin, who needs games to develop as a player. Yet he can't exactly compromise the likes of Arteta, Rosicky and Cazorla in doing so.
In the end, somebody has to suffer, and that unfortunately turned out to be Coquelin.
