Bumping of old threads
Am I the only one that finds it incredibly annoying? I think it's a new thread only to find out it's 9 months old...
Is there a way to automatically lock threads that have not been posted in for 2+ months? If so, I would like that to take place.

Re: Bumping of old threads
Some threads are good to bump, though...
Maybe a datestamp of the thread would be better?

Re: Bumping of old threads
There's nothing better than bumping "RVP sucks" and "RVP will never score more than 10 goals" threads

Re: Bumping of old threads
been happening alot more recently too, although if its like what Lex said then bumping is well worthwhile but when a thread from like a month ago gets bumped just because someone wants to say something new about that person/player/team its really annoying
i dont think we need a "date stamp" or auto-locking threads but its just a cultural thing, unless its a bump due to someone being deceived, someone being proved wrong or someone predicting the impossible then theres no need to be bumping threads imo

Re: Bumping of old threads
I think automagickally locking threads after a certain time is not a good idea as that would just invite the creation of even more duplicate threads. I guess you have to decide what is more annoying there - to have a bazillion duplicate threads which make it far more difficult to find some specific stuff you are looking for or having one or the other old thread bumped. And it is not as if there isn't a date in every post - you just need to take a look at that and you see right away from when it is.

Re: Bumping of old threads
I'd rather have threads bumped than multiple threads on the same topic. Has the added benefits of making the knee-jerkers look like... ... ...Knee-jerkers.

Re: Bumping of old threads
nothing wrong with bumping threads specially when it is for rubbing it in someone's face.. when people make a certain statement or assert something very confidently, they are onlt leaving themselves open for a n epic bump

Re: Bumping of old threads
There's rules on other forums where you can't bump threads from e.g. 7 days ago, months ago etc, however there's nothing wrong with bumping imo.

End of the season = many statements to bump and to made to look ridiculous.
A huge majority of forums don't prevent necroposting on an automated mechanical level, in fact the only ones I've seen do it are forums with a massive userbase.
Given the nature of the subject matter in this forum it's probably one of the least suited to automated necroposting prevention.

Re: Bumping of old threads
I'm fine with it to be honest but I do understand where you're coming from.
We could implement something that I've seen in other forums- it has a large blue
"OLD POST" in the bottom right corner of the post if the post was posted like a month or 2 ago.
I think that would benefit both parties.
