Ideal American 11 Empty Ideal American 11

Post by stevieg8 Mon Apr 23, 2012 11:55 pm

This idea spawned in another thread, so I figured I'd give it it's own location. The question is, if you could take players from other sports in the US, and imagine them trained from young ages in football, what would your ideal US NT 11 look like? Base it on their athletic strengths and weaknesses, personality types, anything really. Or limit your answer to one sport. Just a fun idea to kick around.

To copy my suggestion from the other thread:
Brian Urlacher
Adrian Peterson-------Ray Lewis----Clay Matthews----Arian Foster
Andrew McCutchen----Kobe----Wade-----Jacoby Ellsbury
Lebron---Calvin Johnson

Given Phelp's shoulder orientation and arm length he'd be a keeper.

does it have to be current athletes? if so...

GK - Anthony Davis (from UK basketball best shot blocker since bill russell)
LB - Champ Bailey (CANT BEAT HIM)
CB - Ray Lewis (NO NONSENSE DEFENDER)
CB - Patrick Willis (SEE ABOVE)
RB - Darrelle Revis (SEE CHAMP BAILEY AT LB)
DM - Metta World Peace aka Ron Artest (Pepe+Lass+van Bommel+de Jong all in one!!!)
MF - Dustin Pedroia (SEEMS LIKE HE CAN BE A WILSHERE OR SCOTT PARKER TYPE MID)
MF - Chris Paul (DAT PLAYMAKING)
RW- Derrick Rose (QUICKNESS/ATTACKING CREATIVITY)
LW - Chris Johnson (SPEED!)
ST - Kobe (he seems like he'd be clinical, he's clutch and speaks italian)

i'm going undefeated if i bring this team to europe playing "anti-football." Mou should coach em up for the lolz

ray lewis is a beast....... just not sure his skill set is for the 'soccer' pitch. In his prime he would have made a great dm 20/30 lbs lighter
also, keeper would be easiest spot to fill with any 6'7/6'8 freakishly athletic baller

darelle revis, rajon rondo, ed reed, troy palamalu
desean jackson,chris paul, derrick rose,
michael vick
dwayne wade, calvin johnson

Considering his world class diving, he'd be a winger.

Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey would still be regulars in the side, IMO.
