Is Cristiano Ronaldo back in contention to be the best player in the world?

It's clear that Real Madrid will win La Liga. Honestly can you see them losing it with four games to go and with a advantage of 7 points ? As per Ronaldo u'll see how much he'll score in the upcoming games cause his teammates will help him to score goals so he can win the Pichichi. It happened last year.

I don't think there is anything Ronaldo can possibly do to convince those that already convinced when it comes to this.

The arguments will change from "Messi has more goals" to "Messi has more trophies" to "Messi has the balon d'or" to "Messi dribbles better".

Cristiano is in a no win situation. Some people will just never give him credit. Luckily Cristiano is a guy who has his own agenda. He works hard, plays hard and will see his efforts rewarded.

Amazing player I consider myself lucky to be able to see him do what he does. You should all feel the same.

I saw a stat in the Madrid forum which showed the team standings after removing the goals scored by Messi and Ronaldo. Madrid were still first.

So, objectively speaking, Ronaldo has not carried Madrid this year. Ronaldo is just the part of a phenomenal strike force that Madrid managed to assemble which is essentially what Barcelona do not have.

Messi has been better than Ronaldo this season, in my opinion, but if Barcelona do not manage to win silverware this season, the award will probably go to Ronaldo.

Before last round, goals and assists removed, I think it's pretty big difference:

Cristiano has carried us in April. This "take out their goals and assists" thing only shows that Barca depend on Messi as an attacking outlet.

In no way does it mean that Madrid could have done it without Ronaldo.

You would be considered clinically insane as a coach to not base your team around Messi and Ronaldo

Exactly. but Barca have Messi as pretty much their only legit attacking outlet.

Madrid are more varied but the team is definitely built around Cristiano.

He has always been "in contention", whether he is the best is a completely different question.

I assume since no Madrid fan answered my last post they either didn't read it or had nothing to say.

You people do know that in Ronaldo's last competitive game before this one (Bayern) the Big Game Flop tag was brought out yet again don't you? On this forum and all over the media as he was pretty poor that game.

So this has to be the biggest kneejerk ever. And BTW La Liga had been won for months, most Barca fans and even Pep had been saying that for months when you were 10 points up. The only reason that goal seemed so big is because he failed to put the league away against Malaga and Villareal etc.

It was a team effort to win La Liga as to win a league over 38 games is a team achievement not a individual one and the people saying he dragged Madrid there, shame on you. I will say it again you are probably the same people giving Xaviesta all the credit Messi deserved when he won individual honors and now you flip flop the entire different direction, amazing.

You guys do also realize that head to head this year Barca has played Madrid 6 times including 2, two game series in which Barca won Both and won the other singular game. Barca has also already gone through Real/Ronaldo for two trophies this year assuming they win Copa Del Rey which they will.

Of course La Liga is the bigger prize but Barca did go directly through Real for two trophies so quotes from people like the one below really need to check the facts before they run off at the mouth.
