New Stadium
Maneuvers everywhere. For the stage for the last six stages of the race for the Champions League and Roma to come. One photo, which appeared yesterday morning on the Twitter profile of AD Mark Pannes, has made it clear to all the people that work romanista the web for the new stadium is fully underway. At the snap, dating back to last week, we see James Pallotta's Raptor Fund and Sean Barror architect Dan Meis to work in a room, the study of Los Angeles in the third, full of photos of Roma players, of South Bend and of the implant design. The watchword of the new stadium project, entrusted to Populous, will be "iconic". The architect Meis, in May, may participate on behalf of Rome, together with the CEO Fenucci, the event "Business Stadium" to be held in Turin. The maneuvers, meanwhile, also affect the movement of top management: Pannes landed in Rome yesterday, today will be the turn of the Vice Tacopina and Sunday will stage the president Dibenedetto. The program provides the next few days a series of meetings with UniCredit to determine the terms and conditions of the forthcoming recapitalization (which can not serve even the convening of a board).

Re: New Stadium
An article I read stated that we're looking at designs similar to the stadiums of the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans.

Apparently, it will be a 50K seater and should be ready for the 16/17 season.

Re: New Stadium
I'm gonna need to make it back to the Stadio Olimpico sometime before this happens. A lot has been said about how it takes away from the atmosphere, but it's a fantastic venue nonetheless and I want to see another Roma game there before we move on.

Not entirely sure. I would like to think they'd bring ground sometime in the Spring or Summer.

Re: New Stadium
I was at the press conference of the announcement this afternoon at Disney Wide World of Sports. For me, as I have yet to be able to make the trek to Rome, it was the first time I've been able to see and meet the players up close and personal (thanks to my wonderful wife, who runs construction for Disney Sports).
I have to say that Totti got me in the feels during the new stadium announcement, because he was so filled with happiness and excitement for Roma that his eyes were swelling up with tears.
If he isn't playing for us when the new stadium opens, I wish they would sign him for a 1-day contract for the opening of the new stadium at least. That man is Roma.

Re: New Stadium
I never liked the Olimpico, mostly because of the track around the pitch which makes the stands so far away.

Re: New Stadium
Fenucci on a Roman radio channel
It will be at Tor di Valle, the capacity will be 55-60,000 seats, it will take 24 months to build employing 1,000 people, the paperwork should take no more than a year to complete the paperwork before construction begins and it should be ready for or during the 2016/17 season.
Such a long awaited dream (Dino Viola tried to do it in the early 1980s) - together with winning a UEFA competition - is about to start to be realised.

Re: New Stadium
It will apparently be modeled after Reliant Stadium, home of the Houston Texans NFL team.
I've been to Reliant before and it's a simply massive venue...just ginormous. Seeing something like that decked out in Roma colors would be such an overload on the eyes...

Wouldn't be so bad should they remove the third level. I actually quite like the stadium. However, I was hoping they would go more towards an MLS style stadium, but I think they ownership group is thinking more towards a multi-use facility.

Corriere dello Sport:
Roma want to name new stadium 'Totti Arena' in honour of Francesco Totti.
They want the ground to be constructed by 2016 and the capacity will be 55000.

Re: New Stadium
Pallotta: 'New Roma stadium soon'
Roma President James Pallotta said a stadium announcement will be made soon, while selling Erik Lamela and Marquinhos was a good deal.
The Boston-based patron spoke at a panel for the Bloomberg Link Sports Business Summit in New York.
“We made an effort to strengthen a couple positions, but also get some veterans. Last year we bought a 17 year old player from Brazil for $3m and we sold him to PSG for $30m-something one year later and ploughed that back into three or four players including (Kevin) Strootman who is the captain of the Dutch team, for much less money.
“While Tottenham sold their player for €100m, then we sold a player named Lamela who is 21 years old for €35m the other day.”
Pallotta also confirmed work on building a new stadium for the Giallorossi is progressing very well.
“We have been working for 18 months in building our stadium in Rome. We currently play in the Olympic Stadium which was built in the early 60s.
“It’s 80,000 people at the end of the day and you’re not on the pitch because you have a track around it, so it’s not the best fan experience.
“We’re about to build a new stadium with 60,000 people in three years, we’ll have some big announcements in the next couple of months, Nike will build a superstore, we’ll build a Hall of Fame. The cost? I don’t want to say it…”
