18 pages of discussing before the game just shows how great this game is gonna be.

The 2 best wingers on the planet.
The highest goalscorer in the world after Messi and Ronaldo.
And thats not even counting Kroos and Gustavo, who have been at their prime this season and as good as almost any center mid pairing, and Alaba, whose been a revelation at leftback. But thats a weak team? HAHAHAHAHAHA. Madrids gonna get smacked up.

Bayern's problem is that they have no depth and very little rotation. That's the reason they're not first in the Bundesliga. They struggled massively when Schweinsteiger got injured. They had nobody to fill his role adequately, which messed up their formation. And since Dortmund's inexperience and horrible wasting of goal scoring opportunities got them kicked out of the CL, and so just cruising along in the Bundesliga, that didn't help Bayern either.
Bayern recovered a bit recently when Robben came back from injury, which gave Bayern more options for the formation in midfield again.
IMO, the only advantage Real Madrid have over Bayern is the defense overall (except for Neuer and Lahm).
(Considering the starting formation, not squad depth.)

You're never going to get anywhere comparing teams that way....this player is better than that player....that bullshit never works.
Trust me , I used to do it.
If you feel Bayern poses us a specific tactical problem go ahead and list it.

Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich(Clash of the Titans)
There is no favorites to this tie.I dont know how people can label RM as clear favorites, only thing they have a slight advantage is individual quality of defenders and nothing else.
Both teams will line up with 4231 so the game will be more of a individual quality battle than a tactical battle.
Alba vs Di maria
Lahm vs CR
Robben vs Marcelo
Ribery vs Arbeloa will be the key battles.

Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich(Clash of the Titans)
Alaba is being massively underrated here.
Guy has looked very impressive at RB. I think this kid can give Marcelo quite the go in this tie.
Neither side has any glaring weaknesses and that's always good for neutrals such as myself.
Though for the sake of NOT wanting to see a clasico in this comp, I'm rooting for Bayern.

We gave you Gago
It's in the contract that you root for us
As for Alaba , I know him to be a DM TBH.

Meh, I love Gago, but if giving him back to you guaranteed the certainty of a non-clasico CL final, he'd already be on a plane for Madrid
Alaba's indeed a DM by nature, but his conversion to RB has been very good. His pace and technique on the ball can possibly cause Madrid's left flank some discomfort. Look out for that.

I don't mind inverted fullbacks playing with inverted wingers. No matter how much technique they havethey are always stfled for space and get in each others way.
Marcelo likes inverted wingers anyway.
Also...they'll have a huge job marking Ronaldo's runs...and well...Marcelo will cut him apart if he decides to venture too far up the pitch.

It's the CL and it's against a big team..you know you're missing someone
Anyway, It's unorthodox and I don't like Marcelo on the left.
I'd go
Corentrao-Pepe-Ramos-Marcelo
-------Sahin-------Alonso---------
Benzema---Ozil----------Di Maria
---------------Ronaldo-------------
Benz and Ronaldo switching.

Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich(Clash of the Titans)
Lass has to play RB for Real against Bayern. Its either that or Coentrao at RB. Arbeola will get raped, no pace, bad positioning. The only reason he looks better in some games is because he doesnt push forward too much, thus he wont be out of position during the counters. But during normal play, his sense of positioning is so poor.
So best option i think would be Lass as RB and Coentrao as LB in Munich. Then at home, play Marcelo as LB.

Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich(Clash of the Titans)
Lass has no tactical awareness and is far too aggressive. Ribéry would rip him apart. Arbeloa I'd say is your best bet, or Coentrao.Le Samourai wrote:Sushi Master wrote:Lass against Ribéry?

Lass can be better used in midfield heavily pressing or something.
But I just say that as a Bayern fan. As a Madrid fan, I'd never start Lass

Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich(Clash of the Titans)
Lass dosen't have much tactical awareness but that's much less neccesary as a fullback.
It's a very channeled position.
Arbeloa is slow...I'd play Corentrao as well but Lass has always impressed me as a RB.

Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich(Clash of the Titans)
Pure physique ain't going to stop Ribéry, man. He faces big guys every week.
You need smarts to stop him, which Lass is lacking.
People focus on Robben far too much, which is good news for Ribéry. It doesn't matter that much if you're slow. Ribéry ain't as fast as he used to be.
Frack, I want this match right now.

Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich(Clash of the Titans)
Not about physique , Lass is a hustler, at the very least he will slow Ribery down and not allow him to get into a flow.
He's nowhere near as bad as he is in midifield.
He might get sent off though.....

You have a strong defense, but not with Lass in it, IMO.

Re: Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich(Clash of the Titans)
Jupp Heyneckes has to be at his tactical best in this game.
I'm saying it again he has to pick an eleven from a tactics perspective rather than a best eleven.
Which means he has the hard task of dropping one of Kroos or Mueller.Because i believe Kroos and Schweinsteiger at CM is a disaster waiting to happen.Bayern need to play with a real DM like Gustavo.
If i were Bayern's coach ,i would probably drop Mueller especially at the home leg where i think Bayern would have the major share of possession and Kroos suits the possession game more than Mueller.
This is a wonderful tire indeed. There are so many mini battles between both teams' players especially the one on both teams flanks plus you cant ignore the one on the Center.
May the best team win but with Mou i think Madrid hold a slight edge.

BTW, why go ballistic at WUMs like freecat etc? I think it is more fun to see them if they have to eat their words after the matches. ^^
Bayern has to play Dortmund, too. Not easy either, even when it is the week before the semi.ToEy wrote:I think people forget about the classico between the Bayern ties...it might swing momentum for this tie
