Juventus trio impress Emerson
The Juventus midfield of Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Claudio Marchisio is key to their Scudetto bid, says Emerson.
The Brazilian, formerly a midfielder with Roma, Juventus and Milan, made the claim in an interview with Tuttosport on Monday.
“The three midfielders are of a world class standard,” the 36-year-old, nicknamed The Puma, commented.
“Pirlo provides the brains and the experience, Vidal the personality and strength, while Marchisio offers talent and courage. They are worthy of the Scudetto, there is no doubt about that.”
The South American added that he was particularly impressed with Vidal, the Chilean summer signing from Bayer Leverkusen.
“The Chilean has made a big impact on me. He’s young, but he has taken little time to settle in a difficult championship like the Italian one.
“He has given me the impression that he instantly understood the spirit of Juventus. He won’t waste the opportunity of playing for the club.”
Juve are still four points away from Milan in the title chase, despite the 5-0 win at Fiorentina over the weekend.
“Saturday’s game was one of the few Juve games that I have missed, but only because I was travelling,” Emerson added.
“The 5-0 win was a good sign though and the Scudetto is still open, even if Milan have a better assembled squad and are a model of consistency. But if those three midfielders play well…”

Wise words, I think we all agree our midfield 3 is the key for Juventus. Even though our defence has been fantastic too (for the most part).
