Players Leaving LFC || Summer 2012
Who do you think will leave Liverpool in the summer? Whether their contract running out or being sold or handing in a transfer request, or retiring which players do you think will leave us during the summer?
Here's what I think:
Joe Cole sold
Dani Pacheco loaned for another season
Fabio Aurelio contract ending
Maxi Rodriguez sold
Brad Jones sold, let go for free
I don't think Milan will buy Aquilani and he'll return. I personally would love him starting over Adam anyways.
For replacements obviously a winger should already be a main priority so whoever we sign could replace Maxi in the squad. For LB, Robinson can finally step up and replace Aurelio as the back up. And Gulacsi to replace Jones as the third choice.

He's too old for that kind of offer when he's not a world-class player either. I'd keep him anyway, a great character and not likely a player who's form will dip quick and deep as he gets older, he's a born sportsman who will keep on training hard, I'm sure. I wouldn't mind seeing Kuyt retiring in Liverpool shirt.
I think there are a few obvious players who we still have a contract with but who won't play for us in the future, Messiah-Anino mentioned some of 'em.
But do you think we will lose someone we didn't see leaving? Especially if we fail to achieve CL football there could be offers coming in. Suarez? Skrtel?? Lucas??? Kelly???? Reina?????
Torres showed that nothing's impossible.

Re: Players Leaving LFC || Summer 2012
The trophy (yes even if it is ONLY the Carling Cup ) should go a long way toward covering for a lack of CL football in terms of keeping current players. Skrtel and Lucas won't go for at least another season regardless as they still have a bit more to show before they'll be attracting the type of club that would be a "step up" from Liverpool. Reina has only very recently (relatively speaking) pledged himself to Liverpool long-term even without CL football in the immediate future. Kelly is a home-grown player... if he leaves it's for first team football. If Suarez leaves, it'll be down to issues off the pitch, not on it.
I could see Inter or a similar club coming it with a 7-10m bid for Kuyt. I'd be tempted to accept, and I'm probably Dirk's biggest fan on these forums.

Get rid of Cole, Pacheco and Aquilani. I could see Maxi leaving, but I don't want him to go.
Can't really seeing anyone else leave. Maybe Kuyt. But that's about it. ._.

Re: Players Leaving LFC || Summer 2012
I really have a feeling Kuyt won't be forced out, and I really don't think he wants to leave at all. So I see Kuyt staying for next season for sure. Maxi in other hand will most likely be leaving, he's only had around 10 appearances in all competition this season, and I wouldn't mind seeing him start in a mid-table cub and give our youngsters a go on the bench.

Re: Players Leaving LFC || Summer 2012
I'm not sure why people are using the verb "lose"... more than likely, when Kuyt leaves (for which there is a very decent chance this summer) it will be by mutual consent as the club will be looking to bring in a better or younger player to take his place in the matchday squad and Kuyt still wishes to play every match he's fit for.

Re: Players Leaving LFC || Summer 2012
I would be okay with selling Kuyt if we get a "good" offer for him. If not, he has shown he can be a wonderful squad player for us. I don't think he's going to regain his regular starting role, as Hendo is already preferred at times on the right, and I would hope we bring in another winger in the summer. That said, Kuyt has been such a wonderful servant for the club it would be wrong to "force" him out. If he wants to stay as a squad player, let's let him. Honestly, I would love to send him to a CL Dutch team. Symmetry and all that (see also: riding off into the sunset).
Maxi needs to move on. He hasn't contributed much to the squad this season (unlike last season when he was scoring when he was on.) He's getting older, and not looking likely to break into the lineup any time soon. Let's sell him and use the funds for a new winger (Johnson, Hoilett, Ayew... my personally preference being Ayew).
Cole should, and most likely will, be sold in the summer. Barring some sort of massive downturn/injury, he has improved his stock enough to find a buyer. Lille may very well buy him from us at the end of his loan deal.
Aquilani was rumored to have a buyout clause/agreement at 25 matches (I think that's the number. I posted it a while back in another thread.). Even with his injury, he is on 20 appearances for Milan now. If he can get fit, be could still reach that number. Even if not, he could attract interest from some other Serie A clubs (maybe Juventus will bring him back as a long-term Pirlo replacement. I'm still hoping that deal happens.)
Pacheco... Can we please cash in on whatever value he still has? Please...
I was taken aback by the mention of Kelly in this squad. I suppose it's not that unlikely. We do have two very good fullbacks. I just can't see him leaving. I can honestly see us selling GlenJo before Kelly, with the current transfer policy (not that I am advocating that action). In the next few years, we'll see more of this discussion and eventually the sale of Johnson in favor of a starting place for Kelly.
My sincere hope is that Comolli was not presenting a facade when he said that League Cup gave Liverpool the credibility to recruit top names in the summer. If this trophy can give us the clout to recruit the level of player we need to take the next step in ascending the Premier League table, then it will have been well worth the effort.

That was under Kenny when it was clear he wanted to play a 442 direct style team.
Rodgers has a different philosophy - and AA suits that philosophy a lot more than the likes of Adam and Spearing.

Well, there are rumours of Agger being wanted by City, perhaps even Barcelona. I would understand if he (or Skrtel) would like to leave for CL football, after all they're probably at the peak of their careers, form wise. Really really really hoping neither will leave, but like I said, I'd understand it.
Just as well there certainly are CL clubs out there who'd like Luis Suarez in their squad, but luckily he has not indicated anything about thinking about his options. Carroll I hope will stay and I don't think there's too much demand for Reina amongst CL clubs right now.

Alberto Aquilani - 70-80k
Charlie Adam - 40-60k
Dirk Kuyt - 80k
Craig Bellamy - 80k
Maxi Rodriguez - 80k
Fabio Aurelio - 40-60k
Nathan Eccleston - 10k

Stephen Darby (academy) - 10k
----------------------------------
Andy Carroll - 80k
Jay Spearing - 15-20k
___________
All rumoured contracts of course.
That's 5m a week saved in wages; 53m saved over a year. (Went with the lower sum; aka when I said Jay Spearing anywhere from 15-20k, I used the 15k and not the 20k.)
Still have the likes of Joe Cole and Jamie Carragher at the club.

Which saves a little more than 26mill over a year....which is still good considering most of them didn't justify their paychecks.

Yeah, even with addition of Sahin, Borini, Allen, Assaidi and Yesil the wage bill has been trimmed down a little, but our depth in forwards is poor now.

Any idea how much the new signings are getting! I guess we are saving 200k/week.

That's really really bad lol. Yeah, it's 500k. Did it on paper, should of used a calculator and then read it wrong. >.>"
But yeah, 26m a year saved. Still a great return for those that didn't want to be here.

Sahin: 5m a year/52 = 95k a week ish.
Borini: 40k a week.
Allen: Same as Borini
Assaidi: 30k
Yesil: Can't see any reports for this one. Can't be anything over 30k.
Atleast 250k saved. 13m a year.

Allen & Borini @ 40k are real steals. What's their contract length! Don't think Yasil is getting more than 15-20k.
