I haven't said Ronaldo is a big game performer or he has been the best or he will deserve to win it or he is even the player at Madrid so far.

Ballon D'or is a popularity contest, and Messi and Barca are way more popular than Ronaldo in the footballing world. So, I dont think Ronaldo will win it unless he actually performs outstandingly better than Messi.

Although that new "best player in Europe" award sounds pretty fair and similar to the past Ball'on D'or. That, Ronaldo has a higher chance of getting.

You'd be surprised how bandwagon-y most coaches and captains are. If Real Madrid win the champions league and Cris doesn't crap himself at the Euro's (he might though lol) then he has a good chance.

In the last award he came second, ahead of Xavi who won more titles. It's not impossible.

He had just scored 53 goals and beaten the all time top-scoring record in La Liga. It wasnt a bad season individually.

Also, losing to Barca in the semi-finals of the CL (in a scandalous way) should have given him some extra votes.

If he outscores messi in La Liga and CL, and if he wins both the CL and La liga, plus a couple good performances at the Euro (no way are they letting Portugal win the Euro though) I'll bet he wins it.
