Should Chelsea sell Torres?
He's been playing false 10 Attacking midfielder playmaker 9 pretty well recently but Chelsea desperately need a pure goalscorer in the team with Drogba declining, Lukaku unproven and Anelka sold. Would love to see Torres become that man for us but he has serious mental issues so that won't be happening anytime soon.
Maybe even a loan to a club like Malaga, Villarreal etc would be beneficial for his career just so he could regain his confidence because he's fecking hopeless in front of goal atm.
Any decent strikers available in the market atm?

Well Damiao has been suggested before. He looks like a real talent.
All rounded player and most importantly as a striker he is scoring goals lol.

Re: Should Chelsea sell Torres?
Not sure actually.
Its pointless selling him now and not replacing him, with Drogba getting old and Lukaku still a kid.
You could buy someone to replace Torres, but Torres value must be so low you would be basically giving him away and who are you going to buy?
I would see if Atletico are intresting in a Torres plus money swap for Falcao.

Re: Should Chelsea sell Torres?
Who is willing to buy Torres for huge amount of money?
No body rates him anymore apart from may be Anzhi or PSG just for the marketing reason .

Put that in ebay item discription and you'll surely find a buyer for him.

I think he means a "false 9."
(For those that don't know...) As I understand it, a false 9 plays in the traditional advanced forward position. Therefore, in buildup play, the formation is a standard 4-3-3.
However, once the ball is played to the #9 (in this case Torres), he turns and looks to play in either the wingers on an advanced midfielder. In this picture, the striker would have the ball, looking to play in the wingers or LCM making a run into the box.
In other words, once the #9 receives the ball, he takes on the role of a traditional #10. This type of striker looks to pass first before scoring himself.

He needs to be a finisher instead of a false 9.

Re: Should Chelsea sell Torres?
I dont really watch Chelsea much, but judging by today's game I dont really think there is a problem with Torres. I think its with the way chelsea play.
Instead of passing the ball to Torres they try and shoot them selfs. Most of the time skying the ball into the stands.
They had far more attempts on goal than us today but hardly any where on target. Or anywhere near the goal. I think our keeper only made 2 saves and one of them was from a Lampard free kick.
They seem to be very centrally orientated as well, hardly any balls come in from the wings.

Re: Should Chelsea sell Torres?
Looks like AVB is reading GL. I made some criticism few weeks back that chelsea should stop going forward only from flanks and concertrate to center as well. Anyway Draw would have obv. been fair to chelsea and sunderland, that was a lucky goal Lampard scored.GyansDancingBoots wrote:I dont really watch Chelsea much, but judging by today's game I dont really think there is a problem with Torres. False 10 Attacking Midfielder Playmaker 9
We can add it to the list of GL positions, such as Playmaker GK and Box to Box LB.

Re: Should Chelsea sell Torres?
Funny becouse a false 10 is a midfielder making ghost runs from midfield aka Fabregas
So if he doesn't score... How effective false 10 is he?
