I doubt we'll use Adam as a left attacking midfielder. We've seen him used there before, but those were not "big games." (A friendly and maybe early on in the season against a bottom of the table side.) I think it will most likely be Maxi and either Bellamy or Kuyt.

I know Kompany is suspended (btw, that red card was total crap. I saw the match today) and Toure brothers are off to ACN, but what's wrong with Silva & Kun!!!

I would prefer Bellamy starting. It will be very unfair to him, but he is our most potent attacker ATM. Besides, Gerrard & Bellamy behind Carroll will be a great attack.

The Silva news is just a rumour at the moment, I believe. I wouldn't put too much stock in it yet.

According to the BBC: "Mario Balotelli, Edin Dzeko and David Silva are doubts."

I reckon Liverpool can get a draw.

I'm following you now. I agree, that is a good possibility. However, I'm not sure Downing will start following his weekend activities. We'll just have to wait for the team sheets.

Why Enrique on the bench

I suspect Jose is on the bench due to reasons that he needs rest and will be rested for an important game which is Stoke City on Saturday.

I'm disappointed that M-Rod isn't playing but then again its understandable considering Downing had a good impact app against Oldham with the goal probably giving him a boost of confidence.

That, or that Stoke is more prioritized. Surprised not to see him on the bench as I would have had him instead of Kuyt who is in worse form than.....Bonera.

Aside from that I'm happy that Carroll, Hendo, Spearing, Bellers and Gerrard are starting along with the fact that my Number 1 replacement for Jose would be Kelly as I'm confident he will have a good game today.

Good to also see that Silva is indeed out for the game.

As small as this cup is, a win will do wonders for our squad morale and confidence.

Arquitecto brings up a good point; we do have an important game in the league this weekend. It is smart to save some of our players for that game. Besides, players like Johnson, Gerrard and Downing could be key to helping Carroll boss the ManCity backline.

To even put mildly Carroll has been bloody awful so far
