Maxwell to sign today for PSG

According to Sport, Paris papers are claiming that Maxwell will sing today for PSG.

I'm not sure that selling Maxwell in the middle of the season is best idea. Mino Raiola is his agent, so he will definitely leave If he sign for PSG, time to promote Montoya as RB back-up and use Adriano more often as LB back-up to Abidal. In conclusion if Maxwell is out someone from B-team must be in permanently.

Yup, Montoya will be the big winner from this transfer. With the rumors of Abidal signing for PSG/City as well though, and so far not re-singing his contract, we might have to bring in a LB during the summer.

Well I'm not too upset because we haven't used him much, but I hope that spot will be filled quickly, either by a youth or another LB. I don't like selling players and not getting anymore through promotion or buying.

Why now and not the Summer? I think Montoya could do with a little more game-time. He'll get that with Barca B, not with the first team. His chances would have been best in the early Copa rounds and Group Stage of the UCL. I don't think Pep would use him a lot yet (see Fontas).

I hope Keita leaves in the Summer.

This could be foolish. Barca really have no cover for LB/RB except Adriano, Montoya is very mediocre from what I've seen. Keeping Maxwell until the summer at least would be the safe thing to do.

That's cool, but we all rate him highly and as does the coaching staff... I think he's already as good as Maxwell really. Maxwell is cooler in possession, better passer and better tiki-taka, but that will come with a bit of experience.

Maxwell was a regular starting for the past two seasons though not this season. Its a shame that he is leaving though it gives a little extra game time for Montoya (if Pep chooses to). He can play both at right and left back so there should be no problem if Adriano and Abidal are somehow injuried.

We should be able to get some money from Maxwell, he is not that old and PSG is loaded. 3-4 million would be fair considering we got him for 5 milions.

I can see how the added depth can be important, I just want to see Montoya get some more games in as I rate him pretty well

Let the guy go, Maxwell is surly a plus.. being a decent replacement Left back, but Adriano is more on the "Barca Wavelength", in other words hes quicker, more attack minded and moves better, Maxwell is more erm... Tidy lets say. Less weird crosses (or crosses at all) and just more safe.

but We already got Abi for the same position, plus out of the three Maxwell is the least efficient to play in other positions. And now there more space for Barca B's to move in Pep's plans.

Yeah, the deal is real. His agent confirmed that Barcelona allowed them to talk to PSG, and they are just negotiating with PSG atm.

Fair thee well Maxwell. A player under appreciated by Barca fans. He did a great job. Accepted his role well and rarely had a bad game. Never complained. The perfect squad player in my opinion.

I think he's improved a lot under Pep too. This season he looks more solid defensively and he's become an excellent passer here too, rarely misplaces a single ball. He's very good technically, wouldn't be surprised to see him play the odd game in PSG's midfield.

I agree.. but the main complaint I would have of him was that he is slow and may tend to be stranded in the opponent's side of the half when running back to defend a counterattack.

but he was a great player to have around.

I personally never had a problem with him and, unlike Adriano, I never got pissed at him. Very solid role player. Good luck to him at PSG.

Selling Abidal would be really idiotic, and I would honestly get upset to no end if it did happen. The guy is amazing for us, plus we have the least coverage in defense so why sell off one of our best defenders? Not only that he is one of the few tall guys on the squad that can help with arial threats
