United acting as a disgrace!
http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/What-The-Papers-Say/2011/Jun/Papers-Berbatov-bait-for-Modric.aspx
what the hell is going on for christ sakes! this better not be true that they are playing with Berbatov's head by trying to lure yet another Spurs player by offering him plus 18mill for Modric.
That has to be the biggest insult a player could get from a manager in the history of football, is there really anyone here that is happy from what they will read from that link?

Re: United acting as a disgrace!
When I see any articles that speaks as Berbatov as going out, I simply close them down.
Not that I do not believe them, but I can not bear thinking my club is acting like this with one of the most self giving player in its squad.
Just because he does not have the stamina of Rooney does not mean he cares less.
Outside the players raised within the squad, I see Evra and Berbatov as the biggest fan of their own team.

Re: United acting as a disgrace!
It's not acting as a disgrace imo. I doubt whether this news is true. But if you think about it, we have a striker who is 30 years old, and is now finding himself on the bench because of Chicha.
We have Welbeck coming back + we have Owen. I love Berbs, and I really appreciate his selfless attitude towards the club, but if by him going to a club which badly needs a good striker in order for us to get the top CM in the league, then I wouldn't be too upset tbh.
We have to think about our future. We have to fix up our midfield really badly. We've just had Scholes retire, the best option to replace him is Modric.
We either could pay the ridiculous sum of 50 mill for him, or we could offer 20 mill + Berbs. I'd take the latter option.

Re: United acting as a disgrace!
Berbatov + 20 mil is not = to 50 mil. I mean Berba is not 30 mil. But also Modric's realistic price is not really 50 mil.
I think he deserves respect and deserves another year at United. I mean come on he is the current premier league top scorer, and it does not matter if he scored 10 against Blackburn and 12 against West Brom or whatever. He also scored 3 against Liverpool in an amazing performance by him.
He is also versatile and can play as striker and he can play from deep spreading passes for the quick Rooney and Chicharito. And Man Utd need creative players.
Berbatov's problem is that the transfer fee paid for him was way more than it should have been. He is definetly not a £30M and when he was bought for that sum of money every newspaper in England expected him to be better than Messi and C.Ronaldo or something like that. If he was bought for a more normal fee like £20M the press wouldn't get on his back so much and he would be able to perform even better because he would be more relaxed.
Btw, as I see it if some club actually pays £50M for Modric, the same thing might happen. Everyone will expect incredible performances from him every week, the media will be all over him as soon as he plays two bad games and he might have problems dealing with the pressure as well.
Man Utd have enough transfer funds to buy Modric without having to include Berbatov as part of deal. Also it would not be very fair to Berbatov if he is to be sold to Tottenham where he will not be welcomed very well. The fans there were insulted that he left them and said he wants to play for a bigger team. So are they now going to be mad at Modric as well, or what?

Re: United acting as a disgrace!
Berba has been very loyal and obviously even if they did not extend his contract he wants to help United. I just thought they were resigned on losing out on Modric a few days back so this is nonsense already.
