De Gea's not so bad anymore, huh? Empty De Gea's not so bad anymore, huh?

Post by Dnmac4 Wed Jan 04, 2012 10:38 pm

I tried telling you people last week to wait until Lindegaard actually plays a team with a pulse what would happen.

To be fair, he wasn't at fault for the loss but that clean sheet record was a joke because he didn't play anyone while De Gea had 7 or 8 clean sheets as well but he was terrible.

SAF CANNOT keep switching keepers just put De Gea in there and let him cut his teeth in the EPL. He is going to make mistakes but every young keeper switching leagues will make mistakes especially going into the EPL where corners are wrestling matches. Let him get it out of his system this year as apart from a couple games he has been quite good this year.

I swear to god every week with United it's musical chairs with there keeper and there defense, I know injuries plays a part but it's amazing they have as many points as they do with all the different lineups SAF concocts.

Couldn't have done anything for the first two goals. Last goal we weren't on the pitch so don't know if he called for it or not.

I've got to disagree I think De Gea will be quite good when it's all said and done and he will be Spain's number 1 when Iker hangs it up and that's no small feat.

I actually think him hitting a little adversary right now will help him in the long run as he has had an easy go of it from day one at Atletico.

Plus the EPL is putting some hair on his chest and he will be much tougher and better for it next year.

All three goals were unkeepable, De Gea would've done just worse. Lindegaard is way better than De Gea.

when de gea was in laliga, i bet you weren't calling him mediocre was you? he is still a great shot stopper however in the epl you are tested on your overall goalkeeping ability much more often than in laliga. de gea needs to gain more muscle and get use to the high balls, which he will in time.

His job is to call off that defender and organize the backline for the last goal, and he got a hand on the free kick. I mean the free kick was brilliant but if people are going to kill De Gea and analyze every performance with a fine tooth comb then it's only fair to do the same to Lindegaard.

Based on what? The 8 games you have seen him play against bad competition?

Let me guess you don't watch La Liga and have never seen De Gea play before this year??

That is the only way someone could type the post you just did.

There is no merit to being better than Lindegaard imo

I reckon people are going to look kinda silly in 5 years time for the way they speak about De Gea.

2 seasons of great play in La Liga: great talent, good goalie, cool.

Couple errors in 6 months of PL : Useless garbage.

Give the guy some time and lets see what he becomes.

I dont think SAF is helping him by rotating him in and out, especially when he was playing well and not making errors. But give the dude some time and lets see.

Lindegaard is decent, probably could start at a decent team but not capable of what De Gea is. Once De Gea irons out his game, this comparison will be laughable.

De Gea is, was and always will be the better keeper. Just give De Gea some more time in the long run it will be worth it.

SAF should start him every game.

I haven't watched Lindegaard, only one game. Dunnow if he is any good. But De Gea is a great GK. He needs to improve, cause he is not a finished product, but he is already one of the best in Europe and will be great. I wished we had him at Barça to replace Valdes eventually.

How are Benfica, Sunderland, Fulham, Denmark and Portugal bad competition, while De Gea flopped in almost all games he played this half season. Lindegaard is just better suited in the EPL than De Gea, and he's proving it every game he's playing. Maybe De Gea will become better I don't know, but atm it is so.

Couldn't have said it better my self. If it was any other goalie that people like they would be saying he has a different back line in front of him every week and SAF keeps switching him for no reason. If you look at his stats and clean sheets this year he has actually been quite good.

But for some reason the media is out to get De Gea from the day he stepped foot on English soil, I have never understood it plus the English commentators during every game he plays can't wait to unload on him any chance they get, it's weird.

I never thought I would see the day where I would say that De Gea had more stability in front of him at Atletico then he does at United.

This is the ENGLISH Premier League we're talking about. Kneejerks are the norm in England.

AVB is suddenly a shit manager now. Mertesacker was a gamble after a bad start, forget about his 80+ German NT caps. Luiz was never good. Arsenal were in danger of being relegated. Newcastle were relegation candidates for getting rid of Barton, Carroll and Nolan. Gerrard is world class again after a 10 minute cameo. Torres was never actually good. Lampard is past it, Lampard is not past it, Lampard is past it, Lampard is not past it etc etc etc etc

De Gea is a good goalkeeper and yea hes young and will make mistakes but it is far to easy to say give him time

United are going for a title, there really isnt much room for errors that put pressure on yourselves, the goal he conceded which turned out to be the winning goal for Blackburn was poor he was beaten in the air by someone who is probably no taller than him whilst he can use his hands and they cant.....

De Gea will be good but tbh imo Lindegaard looks more PL suited right now, he collected every aerial ball tonight with ease against a team with some big strikers

De Gea will be class though

I kind of agree, but he didn't say that. He said that when Iker retires, De Gea will probably replace him for Spain, not become better than him.

I also think he should be given more time. If you've seen him at Atletico, you'd realise why people are defending him. He is a fantastic goalkeeping talent and will be one of the best keepers around in a few years. He'll start holding on to crosses with ease, I guarantee it.

All I will say to that is, if Man Utd didnt want a goalie who was young and therefore needs time because they are trying to win right now they shouldnt of got him.

If they wanted a mistake free world class goalie right now, you dont buy a 20 year old, no matter how good.
