John Terry suing an Indain Government agency
John Terry is set to sue an Indian government agency after his photo appeared on a mocked-up cigarette packet used in an anti-smoking campaign.
A blurred image of the Chelsea and England captain - facing court next month for alleged racist abuse of QPR's Anton Ferdinand - features in the advert above the health warning 'Smoking Kills.
Terry's representative Keith Cousins said: "We have reviewed this matter with our client and have today instructed solicitors to take appropriate action."
The image was created by India's government advertising agency, the Directorate of Visual Publicity (DAVP), whose additional director-general K S Dhatwalia said: "We sent the creative to the health ministry and they then cleared and circulated it. But how Terry’s picture got to be used is not clear. I am trying to find out."
A health ministry spokesman: "We realised there was some confusion about one of the warnings and we immediately issued a clarification in November. The creative came to us from DAVP and we released it after due clearances. We are not responsible for pictures that may have been used by DAVP and cannot say whether it is the footballer."
Its there on mirrorfootball,goal etc.,
Here are a few of the cigarette packets with John Terry's face:

Re: John Terry suing an Indain Government agency
Directorate of Visual Publicity (DAVP) is trying to figure out how England and Chelsea captain John Terry has made his way onto an Indian pack of cigarettes. This is what the additional director-general of DAVP has to say, “We sent the creative to the health ministry and they then cleared and circulated it. But how Terry’s picture got to be used is not clear. I am trying to find out.”
Terry’s legal entourage already has its plate full with a racist allegation and an impending court enquiry. However, they appear to be leaving no stone unturned till the pictorial warning is removed.
The footballer’s PR manager was quoted saying, “We have reviewed this matter with our client and have today instructed solicitors to take appropriate action.”
We feel that if ever Terry have to be used as a warning sign…it must be on a ‘Caution board’ indicating wet floor.
