Opposition have too many shots against us
Just been on some stats website and compared how many shots we allow the opposition and how many Barca allow.
I believe these are the averages from home and away.
Real Madrid - 11 per game
Barcelona - 6 per game
The place where we concede shots the most is in the middle by the 18 yard box.

Yeh, it's probably the only thing we need to improve on in our current style.

Re: Opposition have too many shots against us
We allow our opponents to attack us so we can counterattack them. Barca doesn't give a shot to their opponents by keeping the ball.
Is it so hard to understand ?

61% of our goals have come from open play this season. 16% of our goals have been counter attacks, 13% penalties and 11% set-pieces.
Our average possession this season has been 60% and 84% of our passes have been short.

Stats doesn't mean anything, what we all know is Real Madrid allow their opponents to attack them. we don't keep the ball when we can't find a way, our style is way riskier than Barcelona.

Yeah we've been pressing a lot this season but we aren't so possession oriented. don't allow stats to cloud your judgement. you do realize that there is a big difference between Barcelona and other teams in La Liga ?

Re: Opposition have too many shots against us
If we aren't a possession side then what are we? Because we certainly aren't a counter-attacking side seen as we've scored more goals from open play and have had an average of 60% possession this season.El Pipita wrote:mtfootball wrote:El Pipita wrote:mtfootball wrote:61% of our goals have come from open play this season. 16% of our goals have been counter attacks, 13% penalties and 11% set-pieces.

Barcelona =/= other teams in La Liga.
We are a mix of both. sometimes we keep the ball and sometimes counter attack. it's been effective for us this season, using 2 style make us unpredictable but against Barcelona we can't do the same, they have more quality than other sides in La Liga.

I'm not saying we shouldn't be counter-attacking. I mean given the chance and with the players we have why shouldn't we counter attack?El Pipita wrote:mtfootball wrote:If we aren't a possession side then what are we? What I am saying is our primary style of play is possession. If it wasn't then we would hoof the ball back against every team and wait for a counter-attacking situation.
We should at least attempt to play our primary style against Barcelona.

Re: Opposition have too many shots against us
I think our pressing has improved drastically. Although we are essentially a counter attacking team in core, but do mostly dominate possession against most of our opponents.
Teams like Milan, Ajax, Tottenham, Lyon and Valencia have conceded possession to us in our encounters with them in the last 2 years. Our pressing and possession has improved from last year as even in El Clasicos possession is about 55-45 instead of 72-28...
That being said, reducing the number of shots is also key.

Our primary style is still the same, we've just learned that we can't counter attack when opponents just sitback and watch us.
We've lost many point in Mou's first season because of our stubbornness to just to play counterattack. Mou had to find a way otherwise the same story would happen. so this season we started focusing on keeping the ball whenever we face PTB.
I wouldn't say keeping possession is our primary style when we just started doing it this year while Barca players has been doing it from their childhood.
And once again don't expect RM to keep the ball against Barcelona, it's not so easy as you talk about. see how Valdes screw up a simple pass while he's doing it in training for many years. it takes a lot of work to turn into a PURE possession side.

Not pure possession. What I mean is when we do have the ball we should keep it how we would against any other side.
Instead we kept rushing our attacks and hoofing it back to them.

mtfootball has my support here.dont shoot the messenger ffs lol
leagues are won by best defenses and we are allowing far too many shots against Normal teams, then how are we going to face a very good team and expect not to concede?
our defense has to improve, team defending accurately.

Good exercise opportunity for Casillas. In most matches he doesn't do anything anyway and he tends to perform better when he's tested early on.

SHe's quite full! funny considering I dpn't like full girls, but I just can't keept my eyes off her =)
btw, I don't really know a lot Iran(I googled and found she's from their), but I've been told they're a bit conservative (kind of like Saudi Arabia, or Syria), without getting too much into religious talk, is this kind of modeling (and other kinds of modeling I found on persiantopmodels.com) acceptable in the Iranian community?
Sorry for the long post. xD

Granada created too many chances imo. When teams have too many chances against us it turns into an open game and anything can happen.
