arigle wrote:guys, this is really probably just the usual BS, but it got me so excited I HAD to post it! Calciomercatoweb dot it says that since Borussia Dortmund have bought M. Reus, they are now selling Barrios, their striker who has no more space in his team. They are asking for around 12 million, and Malaga have already offered 10 million but we are apparently interested. This would be GREAT, imho!!
He is a good player.
But we've got Bojan till the 2013, Osvalldo is gona be here, Lamela and Totti for another season. If we buy Barrios who we gotta move someone to the bench from Totti - Osvalldo - Lamela, or just buy Barrios for the bench..Calm down, Osvalldo will be back, dont need to do no rush moves.

Re: AS Roma January Transfer thread
I don't really see him as an Osvaldo temporary substitute, I just really like Barrios in general. You are right about the fact that we can't really buy him just for the bench (would be wasted for all the money) but maybe once we are in CL we could definitely use another striker! I was just excited for him lol can't wait to see Bojan regularly though

Re: AS Roma January Transfer thread
One can hope but I think that next season we are definitely going to get top 3, mostly depending on the summer transfer period. For now lets live this season

Re: AS Roma January Transfer thread
I remember us being linked with Barrios before he eventually moved to Dortmund....had an absolutely insane goal scoring record back in South America with Colo Colo.
Since we're on the subject of Paraguayan strikers....always thought we should've went after Nelson Valdez.
Wouldn't mind Maxi Lopez either...

Re: AS Roma January Transfer thread
I think we can cope without Osvaldo for 8 weeks.. no need for a striker that sits on the bench. Defense, mr. Sabatini.

Re: AS Roma January Transfer thread
agreed, we can cope without Osvaldo. I hope this is just the usual BS! The real thing we have to "buy" is DDR, then in the summer we can think of new players

Re: AS Roma January Transfer thread
Maxi Lopez > Amauri without question. Despite that, I wouldn't want either. Lopez is good, but we don't need more firepower at the moment. Verratti may be a smarter investment, or, you know... defenders.

Yeah, a good versatile CB that can also play on the wings..
But definitely Lopez>Amauri anyday.

Re: AS Roma January Transfer thread
If were going to get a striker this transfer period why don't we take a gamble on Soriano.

Re: AS Roma January Transfer thread
apparently he's a pretty solid lefty winger, and we should be getting him on loan for six months with an advantageous option to buy, so why not try him out

Re: AS Roma January Transfer thread
We're linked to some Serbian guy, Nemanja Tomic of Partizan. He is a midfielder.
Marquinho is just one phone call away from Roma, 450, 000 $ for the loan, and another 3.5 m $ if the deal goes permanent. Not bad ..

Re: AS Roma January Transfer thread
The Marquinho move is on hold for now, as Sabatini needs to sell off some players first. He's currently in Milano in order to deal with the eventual departures of Cassetti, Cicinho, Pizarro, Barusso, Caprari and Okaka. Meanwhile, Corriere dello sport is saying that Enrique has asked for Cassetti to stay until his contract expires in June, probably due to the uncertainty with the physical condition of our center backs.

Re: AS Roma January Transfer thread
Linked with Leto now.Looking like we might actually end up signing him to.
I think the price is around 7 million. He is a winger but this season he has being playing as a SS/AMF from what I've read about him.I wouldn't mind if we end up getting him he has talent i know that for sure ( Watched him a few times) but my only concern would be that he might end up doing Cisse.

Re: AS Roma January Transfer thread
Watched him live when Panathanaikos beat Milan here in Michigan last year. He was among the best on the pitch in that game.
Had immense potential, but he fell by the wayside. That said, could be a useful option.

Re: AS Roma January Transfer thread
I like what I've seen from Leto. He seems to have the never give up on the ball attitude and I believe has a good combination of skill (Seems a very good dribbler for a taller player), pace, and strength. On paper he has everything a player would need to succeed in Serie A. I hope the transfer goes through...At 7 mil it would be a great deal for us. He also can beat players on the dribble and thats an area we are slightly lacking in IMO.

Re: AS Roma January Transfer thread
De Ceglie confirms Roma talks
By Football Italia staff
“I know that Roma and Juventus have discussed” Paolo De Ceglie, said his agent, but the full-back wants to extend his current contract.
The 25-year-old has spent most of this season on the bench with Giorgio Chiellini’s move to left-back, but has caught the eye of Luis Enrique.
“I know that Roma and Juventus have discussed De Ceglie, quite apart from the talks that happened when Marco Borriello moved on loan to Turin,” agent Carlo Pallavicino told Tele Radio Stereo.
“They probably took place during the negotiations for David Pizarro. De Ceglie’s contract expires in a year and it is our intention to wait for Juventus to call a meeting to discuss the renewal.
“The lad is wanted by many clubs and not just Roma. He is very admired by Inter Coach Claudio Ranieri, who during his time at Juventus gave Paolo a lot of playing time.”
