Was Kaka Faster than Messi?
Guys,
I bumped into this video where Kaka dribbles past Messi with ease.
My question to those who used to watch Kaka play during his prime days would be, was Kaka faster than Messi is or is it just that Messi was 18 during that time and Kaka was 23, also Messi had been playing from the beginning whereas Kaka was a sub and came in fresh?
Here is the video i am talking about

Nothing really matters, i just want to know.
What troubles me is that Kaka was running with a ball whereas Messi was free from any object he has to kick with his feet.
But maybe its because Kaka was running when he stole the ball from messi and messi was in a static situation where he had to start from 0mph and accelerate.
I really dont know. That's why i am asking.

I got you. Also i think Messi was 18 back then, not fully developed as opposed to a fully matured 23 years old Kaka.

Real Gunner,
Would you please delete the thread if you dont mind. I dont think it's going anywhere. Besides, there is no definitive answer. It's all relative.

Re: Was Kaka Faster than Messi?
Messi isn't actually known for his lightning speed is he?
If you compared prime Kaka with another fast player I could see the argument

Also Messi played the full match but kaka played some minutes as a sub so messi was tired

Agreed
I think technology can tell us who is faster, but we cant judge who's faster from this video alone but Kaka did cruise easily past the defender(s) who was (were) well positioned.

Messi is not renowned for his speed like Walcott and Cristiano. He is fast when you compare him to the average La Liga footballer for his dribbling ability and crazy shot accuracy, among other things

Re: Was Kaka Faster than Messi?
I still believe that messi is as fast as kaka if not faster. follower always looks slower as they dont run at full speed (except defenders)BiasedMilanFan3 wrote:huntsman wrote:BiasedMilanFan3 wrote:Messi isn't actually known for his lightning speed is he?

he is fast when you compare him to any league footballer in terms of his dribbling

Re: Was Kaka Faster than Messi?
I agree with the part that Messi is not that fast. He is above average in terms of final speed and with a great acceleration, but he is far from the fastest players of the top leagues.
Prime Kaka was probably much faster than Messi, but wasn't the only one. Many other players are.

No, Messi is very fast.Nirgal wrote:I agree with the part that Messi is not that fast. He is above average in terms of final speed and with a great acceleration, but he is far from the fastest players of the top leagues.

In OP's video, Messi was young and Kaka was in his prime and it was towards the end of the game so they were both quite tired, Messi isn't a defender anyway so the fact that he was tracking back shows his mental toughness and die hard attitude. Also, Kaka was ridiculously fast back then, I believe he holds some of the speed records at Milan's training ground or something still.
