No, it wasn't.

I notice you intentionally leave out the fact that he scored 1 goal in 4 games as well, which is not a poor record for a midfielder... who was returning from a 5 to 6 month lay-off.

I'm not saying he's a bad player, I think he's top, a good source of goals from the mids, can pass + tackle.

But does he still deserve to be called a top 5 mid? Alot of people just assume that once he comes back from injury he'll displace every other top midfielder there is.

Don't see anyone in this thread calling him "a top 5 mid" or saying that he'll be at the top of the game when he returns from injury.

Not that he could displace other top midfielders as they don't play in the same side to begin with.

Probably more people I talk with than around here, there is unfortunately alot of pool fans around here Razz

I more meant displace them in the top 5, probably poor phrasing of words.

When he played against United back in October he completely dominated the game which was amazing because it was his first game since march.

Very rare to find a such complete midfielder, tackle, pass, score

the point of the name is because they are rated the best midfielders in the world but you dont see them score many goals especially from outside the box.
Luckily messi scores all barca's goals but if he didnt i think there would be a lot of people looking at xavi and iniesta for lack of goals.

Gerrard does have a much better long shot than either of them. I don't think that's the defining quality of a playmaker, but *bleep* it this is Gerrard apreciation thread so let's just: Gerrard=God cheers
