Re: Van persie
Oh, sure they exist, I'm just saying the good ones always have that extra spark.
De Jong is benched by Milner/Barry, Mascherano is deployed only as a CB, Tiote has Cabaye and actually isn't a horrible passer. Lucas is very complete.
I'm not saying Song is god on earth as of now, but he's improved a lot and shown up in key moments which says a lot about his mentality, even though he's a "DM". He's no where near Schweini or Martinez level, but he has the potential. But to call him "mediocre" just sounds like you still consider him shit.

Re: Van persie
That's a serious strike right there, tore a page straight out of Van Basten's book with that one.

Re: Van persie
No, if I considered him shit I'd call him shit. Mediocre means just that... mediocre. As I've said, I consider him to be a good and improving central midfielder, I simply don't see the necessary traits for playing defensive midfield in his play. He wanders too much, lacks the position sense and discipline, and has trouble keeping focus when sweeping up and marking players. His attacking is improving but his tackling and interceptions seem to have stagnated. Whether this is down to the player himself, or Wenger in how he deploys/trains him I do not know and will not speculate. I simply don't see the defensive side of his game at any level other than average.
That's all I've got to say for now, though. We're getting very off topic and I feel I'm simply repeating myself.

Re: Van persie
"Song, as a DM, tends to wander from his designated area and leave holes that other teams can and do exploit. He's also prone to poor tackles and lapses in concentration when on the ball or marking players. He is, by all accounts, an average to above average DM. However, his faults are often overlooked and he is proclaimed to be one of the best DMs in the PL because he will get assists and goals, which are NOT a natural part of a DM's game."
Just because you say it, does not mean you are correct.
Song is fantastic at tackling. Yes, I will agree that he does wander at times.

Re: Van persie
Song can be very disciplined when he wants to: see CL matches this season.
I think it's more due to Wenger's instructions and Ramsey just not being ready yet to fully be in charge of playmaking.
But yeah, let's give him time.
