I don't know what to make of the Mav's.

It's so difficult to measure the importance of a defender like Chandler......I mean quantitatively......odom should more than be able to replace his numbers...but, it's gonna be interesting to see how the lack of a defensive leader impacts their overall play.

Bynum and Gasol(if he's back to normal) will have a field day in the post against Nowitski/Odom.

I'm glad to see that Barea's gone......that midget freak torched us last year...I don't know what to expect from Ruddy......he's Tony Parker like on the run but completely lacks the passing ability and court vision to be efficent.

Carter will do more harm than good, he's a choker, he's greedy and he's long past it.

Bionic proved last year that he's perhaps the best and most versatile SF defender in the leauge.......I don't know what else to say about him.......hopefully his woefully bad shots and floaters stop going in that's the most I can hope for.

I've watched Pau play excellent games against KG and Howard and Perkins........so watching him get locked out by Dirk in 4 sraight games remains a mystery to me.I hope he can resolve those issues.I thought Gasol was past being soft until last year TBH.

Pau might just be starting to decline a bit, who knows really. People say he is an old 32 year old (or however old he is) because of the extensive career he has had. I dont know.

Im not convinced with what all those guys were saying about Chandler tbh..defence is a team thing, I find it hard to believe a team of vets like they are will be so much weaker without him. We will have to see.

IMO even just having him on the team is a risk. When in the last 5 seasons has he helped a team? I just don't get the pickup, if he doesn't have to play, why bring him in? He's not a high chemistry, great teammate guy. He's a chuck 30 foot threes, and jog back on defense guy.

And I agree a a little about Chandler, some people are overstating the loss. However, he was their defensive leader. He organized the defense. When someone missed an assignment last year, it was Chandler yelling at them. I really doubt Haywood takes over that role. Haywoods a solid 1on1 defender like you said, but he does better against strong 5's, while struggling against the more athletic 5's which Chandler held his own against.

We will have to see, I think Vince is int he position where he literally cant hurt the Mavs. He is replacing Butler, so they did need someone in terms of numbers, but as shown, they dont need another wing to win a title. I know loads of people hate him, for various reasons, but I dont consider this a big deal either positive or negative.

True, Chandler was the defence leader, they may miss that, it depends. These guys are vets, if they cant be held accountable for missed rotations then they got problems.

True about athletic 5´s. Another point is, there arent many great centers anyway, so being a pick and role defender and protecting the rim is certaintly more important than 1 v 1 D at that position.

All this being said, who in the West dont have problems? Heck, every team in the league has some kind of flaw. None of these teams are on the level of the Lakers 2 seasons ago, Boston and then going further back.

Yeah, there's definitely not a perfect team. And comparatively the Mavs weaknesses aren't that bad. I think it's either gunna be OKC or (gulp) Miami's year though.

The Knicks signed Baron Davis. Depends on which Baron you get, but it could be a really solid move. He tends to play motivated when he's on a good team. We'll see.

I'm guessing Arenas to the Heat might be next.

When Baron was motivted, honestly he was as good as anyone as that position. He was the best defender when spirited moved him, he locked people down.

He didnt overshoot the 3´s, he got amazing handles and when he drives he is just so big, strong and deceptively quick. Of course in his heyday he could dunk on anyone too.

I think that Baron is gone though, he certaintly cant jump anymore. If he is motivated, then he could be good again (never Golden State good but still) but I dont believe in him anymore if im honest.

I dont know who will win the title dmize, no clue. Miami still have no center worth a damn, no real gameplan offensively and of course The Choking one aka LeAlfred James aka Lebrick ect who we know is failure in the clutch...despite that, I think they are the best team in the league..but that doesnt make a winner lol

He was on the Celtics for a period last year. Maybe he never adjusted but tbh, he looked terrible. He's still got a solid jumper, but he looked lost in Boston. And he's a terrible defender, not just bad, terrible. He can bring you a bit offensively, but I'm not sure how much at this point. Ever since he left Indy he hasn't been able to find his game.

In Boston he looked to lack confidence, if he gets that back he can be a decent scoring option off the bench.

Yeah we had enough PF's last year and he wasn't used the same as he was with the Pacers. If he gets the minutes and eventually his confidence back he should be a decent player off the bench. Still never going to be that good defensively. But you could tell last year he never found rhythm in Boston, his confidence looked shot.

Lakers game last night was disspointing to say the least.

The only positives were McRoberts and Morris.

McRoberts looked like a solid hustle player who makes great decisions, so a good pickup.

Morris.....saw him for the first time yesterday.....and the dude is effing big.He looks almost as big as Kobe and he looks quite athletic..........and has a Westbrook type body......all encouraging signs.He got lit up by Paul.....but I expected no less.He coped well with Williams.....who is a quality player.

His offence was good and will improve with practice and getting to know his teammates.

Watched the highlights of the OKC-Dallas game and my conclusion is

If Dirk was ungardable last year........I cant even begin to think how ungardable Durant will be at some point........with the shooting touch of dirk and the mobility of a SG.Easily best scorer in the NBA......coming from a huge Kobe fan.......that's as big a compliment as you can get.

Neither can defend a lick..just too slow a foot for their positions.

Both can hit open jumpers with range though, and Muprhy can rebound the ball in his space.

I think both guys are those types you put in for special situations to stretch the defence and yeah they may suck on defence but niether will be on the court long enough for it to hurt too much.
