Very defining fortnight ahead but we must take it game by game. Gijon proved a point last season, so they can't be taken lightly.

Afterwards, all eyes on Barca.

Gijon is tough, plus there will be no alonso there.... That is a huge problem. Huge, huge problem.

You do not want to start any of your clasico starters against Ajax.

Ajax needs a draw to qualify, tempo wont be very high, so good opportunity to play your youngsters and rotation guys.

Hope to see Jese, Morata and maybe Alex feature as subs.

sure, we must risk 3 points cuz u are not scared, its ok to take realistic/necassary risks, but NOT unecessary one, gjon game is away, we lost points to them before too, its a week earlier then barca, we must go at full force. take 3 points and mantain pressure on barca.

on the other hand ajax game is almost useless to us. there is no point to not take any risks there. every non starter in barca game can play there.

Nick, Ajax gets in with a loss unless there is a 7 goal differencial (e.g. a 0-3 loss to madrid and Lyon winning 4-0). Even if that was the result it's still not clear if Lyon would get in since they would be tied on all aspects. I don't know how they would settle that, likely yellow cards or something like that. In any event, it would be an unbeliveable result if Ajax doesn't get in.

The line-up for this game likely will be similar to what we saw in the second half against Zagreb except maybe Morata in instead of Higgy and Benz. Given your comments in another thread re Lass / Arbeloa it would be nice to see Carvajal in at RB and maybe Nacho in at LB. We have too many MB on squad that need some game action so I highly doubt if we will see Jesse and Alex.

If Lass is the RB for the time being... then he should get as much playing time there as he can. He's doing pretty well without having played there much at all during his whole career. If he actually got used to the position, he might be a very pleasant surprise. Of course, his attitude might get in the way...

Risk? Just because I don't fear them at all doesn't mean I think we should put out a 'weak' line up.. I always want to win... The only times I would put out a 'weak' line up is in the CL cuz we are guaranteed first place.. I would play ALL bench players
