Sparket = Sacked (José Mourinho left the club)

WEAKEST: Andres Villas-Boas' point average in the Premier League is 1.83 per game. Claudio Ranieri, Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant, Luiz Felipe Scolari and Carlo Ancelotti have all left Stamford Bridge with a higher point average than the Portuguese.

Several managers have left Stamford Bridge in the past - with better results than the present Chelsea coach, André Villas-Boas (34).

After Roman Abramovitsj bought Chelsea, none out of the total of 7 managers have had such a poor start to the season as the newly instated 34 year-old.

The results after 12 Premier League games is 5th place in the league, 12 points behind league leader Manchester City.

In addition, Chelsea have conceded 17 goals. The 6 previous managers conceded 34 goals in total, in their first 12 Premier League matches. When José Mourinho led Chelsea through its' first season(04-05), they only conceded 12 goals, in total.

"On their good days, they are playing fancier football now than before. But they are conceding too much. The current amount of goals conceded is completely absurd." - Norwegian sports commentator

The six previous managers managed to get more than 22 points in their first 12 league games for Chelsea, as well.

"Abramovitsj lacks regard for the managers. It doesn't help that Villas-Boas is a young and promising manager; He won't be allowed enough time to build a team if he doesn't deliver results at the same time. This is Abramovitsj' toy, and he will do as he pleases with him, adds the commentator"

José Mourinho is, so far, the man who had the longest managerial longevity under the Russian. He managed the club for 3 years before he agreed with the club to leave by mutual consent. Behind him followed Carlo Ancelotti, who stayed for 2 seasons. The two of them managed to win several trophies under the supervision of Abramovitsj; 3 times Premier League, 3 times FA-cup triumph, and 2 times victory in the league-cup.

If Villas-Boas poor trend continues, he may suffer the same fate as Claudio Ranieri, Avram Grant and Luiz Felipe Scolari - Who all got fired within a year as manager of Chelsea FC

PS! The seventh manager of Chelsea since 2003 was Guus Hiddink. He was a substitute after Scholari was fired, and was not considered to be a long-term option.

I know this is a rough translation and the article itself isn't that good, but the numbers are interesting. Sorry if someone thinks that this thread carries a depressing undertone, that was never my intention. What do you guys think in regard to Villas-Boas' future at Stamford Bridge, though?

He won't go anywhere, after the sacking of CA and the purchases of Piazon, Romeu, Lukaku and Courtois it is pretty clear we had a big mentality change. Spending the money we spent to get AVB would be a waste if we were to fire him this year, by the end of the year we will have adjusted better to his system plus we will bring in new players who suit his system and we will be better next season, hopefully we include more youngsters and keep moving towards a brighter future.

Overall, sacking AVB now is a step backwards, giving him a year or two is the right thing to do, I would say we are 3-5 years away from being european powerhouses again though.

By that time Terry, Cole Lampard, Drogba and maybe Cech will be gone and our younger players will have experience.

Andre is in it for the long haul, poor stats or not.

I hope you're right Very Happy I don't like the idea of Man City becoming a European Powerhouse, or even among the top 4 in England. It's so hard to like that club, and it's even harder to consider them one of Europe's best. I don't really know why I don't like City. Maybe it's their philosophy.. or their wasteful spending of money that the club itself hasn't lifted a finger to earn.

I think it's more the fact that they don't seem to have a structure when it comes to buying players. Instead of spending smart they just spend.

I have a feeling the owner will get bored in the near future and leave, kind of like what everyone expects roman to do.

He seems to be far worse than roman when it comes to spending money and wanting things.

It won't be long till we knock both Manchester teams pf their perch once again.

That's my point. It's one thing that they have an endless amount of money that the owner of the club brought in, but they seem to be spending it on random star players, for the sake of spending it on something - assumingly in an attempt at instant success. Unlike Chelsea, they didn't carefully build a team from defence to attack, they just spent their money on the top players that were available at the time and filled in the void with overpriced, British players. Don't get me started on their lack of regard for the European market by hogging all the top strikers.

Some may call me a hypocrite for saying this, being a Real Madrid supporter and all, but at least Real Madrid has always been a relatively balanced team. Naturally, the wealthiest and most appealing club will attract interest from top players, and in most cases these players leave by mutual consent between club and player. In Madrid's case, however a large deal of this interest from players have always been rumours. I get the frustration from clubs like Man United and Barcelona when Madrid got players like Beckham and Figo, but these transfers still left players in certain roles on the market. This doesn't excuse Real Madrid's actions, but hogging players in a certain position is the worst way of ruining the market for other clubs, and that's what Man City have been doing. I hope it doesn't continue like that..

The only time his position will be under question is if we end up in the Europa League or if we keep jumping up or down from the Top 4 spots.

^^ if AVB goes out of CL i think he will be in deep shit.. otherwise he should be able to build his team the way he wants in the first season.
