Bale as a left sided lesser skilled version of Dani Alves, maybe..but I am not intrested in paying 40m or whatever.

I feel the same way. As left back I doubt Bale is good enough and as left sided midfielder we will find better options easily - either better players than him or at least those who fit better into our style.
